small red dots all over

Does anyone else have little red dots all over their body (also known as petechiae)?  I have noticed these ever since I was diagnosed with Sjogrens.  Does anyone know why we get them??

The small, broken blood vessels that form these little red dots (they're not raised, are they?) can be a sign of vasculitis (which a lot of people with Sjogren's have, apparently), or a low platelet count (not out of the question).  At least, that's what my rheumy told me.

Or, it could be from something totally unrelated.  That's the problem with an AI disease -- half the time, I think my doctors attribute a problem to it, and I'm not always convinced it's a result of an AI disease.  (Wikipedia said it could be from pressure, or coughing).

Well, I have a lovely red rash on the palms of my hands.     Skin rashes are not uncommon with Sjogren's. The only time I get petechiae is around my eyes and on my cheeks when I throw-up with IBS.  And the hits just keep on comin'...

Oh yes, have lots of the flat critters, especially around my stomach; things just keep multiplying (going to have to charge rent! ).  The rheumy wasn't interested as they aren't around the ankles or lower leg areas.

For the past three years at least once a year I would get those red dots on my hands and feet,, they would be there for a week or two,, fade then my hands and feet would peel,, I saw alocal dermatologist and he took some scrapings andit came back as non fungal,,, WHAT?,, then what is it,,, he said excema,, I didnt kow excema starts out as red dots,,,

I get those from prednisone.  At least that is what my doctor said.

I had this years ago.  Non itching, little red dots, all over.  Turns out I was having an allergic reaction to some sulpha drug I was on at the time.  Maybe a reaction to a medication??  Or just a "normal" thing for us?

Plaquenil can cause the red dots. I had them all over my arms and back, itching like crazy. I had to cut my dose back to 200 mg once a day, and they went away.

I tend to have a patch of them somewhere at all times. My dermatologist gave me triamcinol ointment and clobetasol ointment for it. The clobetasol is for when it turns into real ugly sores.

Oh yes, I have little red dots - especially on the legs, hands and arms.  Not much on torsol.  It responds to steriod cream, goes away in a few days.  Sometimes it can look like a blister.  It is controllable. 

My doctor thinks it maybe Bechets!!! 

Do your red dots repond to steriod cream?

The red spots are not raised, they don't itch, and they don't disappear.  They don't really bother me I was just wondering where they came from and why I keep getting more and more.  I have  been on plaquenil for over a year, but I forgot to ask the rheumy yesterday when I saw him    Ah well thanks for hte responses
