In need of a good humidifier, anyone pleased with theirs?

I have a warm water humidifier that I have used for about a year now and it works great...in the winter!  I have bought 3 different cold water humidifiers from Wal-Mart and have had to take them each back, there are no others left to try there!  One of them spewed more water out of the top onto the carpet than into the air, the other 2 I cleaned just as the directions stated and they started smelling like mold and when you got down to their level it was a pretty bad odor.  If you have a cold water one that you like, would you mind telling me the name and where I can buy it?

I would appreciate this, my sinuses and throat are in need of some moist air!  I rent so there's no option at this point of putting one in the house.

I've been using the Walgreen's Cool Air Humidifier with Ultrasonic Technology for several years. There are no filters to worry about replacing, it's got a large 1.2 gallon capacity tank, and it's very quiet. The one that my soon-to-be-ex-husband has even has a blue night-light in it. There is also an adjustable mist control. The humidifier only costs about $40 too.

Ultrasonic is the way to go.  First I had two different ones that used filters and they were the pits.  Then my husband bought the ultrasonic kind (with a blue light) at WalMart for about $40.  So far it's working great.  It even has a little space where you can put scent in it (not in the water just near the mist) so it can smell good too.  I used some Sandlewood Vanilla, ummm.  Sorry I can't think of the brand name and it's upstairs.  I only do the stairs once a day if at all possible.

I have a travel sized one that I use each night on my night stand.  If you are looking for something like that, the 2 I've purchased are available on Amazon.  One is a Medisana utrasonic humidifier and the other brand name is Sunpentown.  They are both very small and portable for traveling, though a little pricey.  The nice thing with the Sunpentown one is that you don't have to lug around a tank.  It just uses a water bottle that you provide.  The cost $35-40 but they clean up easy and have no filters to worry about.  As long as you use distilled water, you don't have to worry about the 'white dust'.

Good luck,
Julie

Best humidifer is the 7135 by AirO Swiss. Target sells them online. They are pricey but dont need filters and they are high tech and push out ALOT!! I have 2.  Be sure tho to fill out the warrenty so they back it up. They will. I made that mistake on the first one. They humidistat can be off but just see how it ranges then adjust by that. Meaning if it is off by 5 points.

I've been told by another Sjoggie that AirOSwiss is the best, though costly. She said she prefers the cool mist setting, that it lets you know when it needs cleaning (about 2x/month) and that it doesn't get everything in her bedroom too damp.

Somebody said that Bed, Bath & Beyond carries them, and BB & B 20% coupons still seem to be stuffed in the newspaper quite regularly so 20% off would help.

I have owned 3 humidifiers (warm, cool, personal).  They all require some cleaning maintenance.  The easiest for me to use a  hot pot to boil a few pots and unplug before I sleep.  I have taken a hot pot to dry places and used it in hotel rooms.  It works for me.

I have a Hunter purchased at Lowe"s, the one that needs no filter.  You can use tap water, even if you live in a hard water area (no white dust).  However, it is noisy and I could not have it in the bedroom.  This one I use in winter.
In summer I use a Kaz personal ultrasonic humidifier and for this one you need distilled water (or refillable purified water from a machine - usually 25 cents a gal.)  This one I can have in the bedroom as it is very silent, does not put out as much humidity as the Hunter.  I live in Arizona and it is 105 Deg. today.  Believe me, I have tried all types of humidifiers and I look for easy to maintain and I avoid those where you purchase filters as they always smell so bad and I have found mold in some humifiders.  The Kaz can be found on the internet at Amazon.com.  I am still looking for the "perfect" humidifer, one that does not leave white dust but uses tap water (our water in AZ is very hard) and one with the least amount of maintenance and is quiet.   I get tired of cleaning humidifiers.
