Anyone on any special diets? I am a celiac so already on gluten free, and cow-milk free diet but was told by someone I should stop eating animal protiens. They said that it would stop some of the inflamation in my system. They also mentioned "green drinks" anyone familar with this?

Besides my sjogrens symptoms, I have been having more migranes than usual ...am ready to try something new.

So anyone out there have any suggestions? ???

Awaiting your posts...

No on any specialized diet at this time other than a reducing one (eating the amount that would be approximating diet at a normal weight for me).  Am being VERY careful not to do anything with my diet that would cause me to become dehydrated---so no low carb diets anymore for me!

Was just thinking about eggs this am and the fact that my mother sister and now daughter have all had serious egg allergies.  That would be to the white or protein portion of eggs.  Have been thinking that maybe I should try to full eliminate them for a while.

Perhaps gluten free would be or should be something for me to experience also to look for possible improvements in my symptoms.

Thanks, Robin, for starting this thread.

I am on a low fructose, FODMAP diet (stands for Fermentable Oligo-, Di- and Mono-saccharides And Polyols). I have suffered from bloating, food intolerances, and GI inflammation most of my life. This is a new diet for me, and it does seem to help. Basically, I'm limiting fruits that have more fructose than glucose, and not eating certain grains and vegetables like wheat, rye, onions, etc. that have Fructans in them (long chain sugars). I can eat some sugar, but my tolerance for it is pretty low, so I keep it to a minimum.

This has stopped the bloating and quite a bit of the inflammation.

Robin,

I guess the gluten free diet is not working for you.  My mother-in-law just said that there was an article in the arthritis magazine at doc's office about people who have sjogren's or other auto immune diseases should be on a gluten free diet.  Let me know if this diet works.  Thanks.

I aim for an anti-inflammatory diet: mostly whole grains, vegetables, and fruits.  I limit sugar and white flour products.  I also drink turmeric tea (I aim for daily, but I get sick of it and take a few days off once in a while).  I eat protein, but try to keep it to one serving ("about the size of a deck of cards" is the advice I try to keep in mind).  I also eat dairy, though some people recommend that we avoid it; I just like yogurt and milk too much.

I have no idea if it's really affecting my SJS, but I do know that eating this way gives me more energy and keeps me at a healthy weight.
