I did a search for "fructose malabsorption" and came across a thread and a post I wrote in March of this year----so I thought I'd update it.

I'm pretty sure my belly problems are due to fructose malabsorption, and have an appointment with a GI doctor next week. But I finally found some more complete info on this at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/fructose_malabsorption_australia/.

Some of the resource articles I found there made a LOT of sense and my food intolerances match almost perfectly with FructMal. Here are the 2 articles that really explained the subject for me.

I have been in bad shape the last 2 months with pain in b**t where I can't sit (not hemorrhoids or fissure---lord knows what), and finally made an appointment with an allergist doctor and a GI specialist. They did skin prick tests for all the food categories, and I had no allergies except for LETTUCE! I had no idea. So at least I know I'm not out right allergic to something.

I've been on the recommended elimination diet for about 2 weeks---no sugar of any kind, no fruit, no "unsafe" foods (from the lists in the articles). Just wanted to say that I am feeling MUCH better----my b**t is almost healed, almost no bloating, no distension at all. The improvement was almost immediate---like 3 days. Maybe I'm on to something here!

Calli,

I know all about the sore butt, sometimes it looks like a baboons butt back there.  I have library shelve with books, high speed internet access, flat screen HD TV and a wet bar in my bathroom or man cave as I call it.  You might as well have all the comforts of home in the room you spend the most time in.

Good one. Can't top that.

But I do have an off-beat arrangement in my office. I have a small coffee table on top of my desk, with the monitor and keyboard and mouse up high. See--I never have to sit down---do everything standing. (I'm standing here typing away...leaning elbow on coffee table on desk----such a purty sight).
