Occasionally, I do "something" to my hair to save a few bucks,  Might be color it, frost it.....etc.  Hubby usually helps me which is quite a stretch for him.  (Me too.)

We did a frosting awhile ago.  You know, the one with the cap and holes you pull some hair through?  Well, my hair is dark and I've had this stuff on for a loooong time and my hair is ORANGE.  Dark brown with orange stripes?  Sound good?
Well, before I panic, I'm waiting before I rinse the stuff off and maybe it will lighten up more.  I'll probably have to go to my hair dresser for a whole do-over.  Amazing how when you try to save a few bucks, it sometimes bites you back.  This won't be the first time.  Orange Lucy

Hi Orange Lucy,

Orange, eh?  Hummm, interesting color!  Hey, did the color come out with the washing?

Hi Orange Lucy!

I hope the orange lightens just a tad for you...but if not....like Roxanne said....Halloween is not that far off!

When you said "Amazing how when you try to save a few bucks, it sometimes bites you back" it reminded me of a time I was going to go on vacation...saw a sale on a bra that I wanted....raced on over there only to get a speeding ticket on my way to the mall...tried to save some money and it bit me! That was one expensive bra!  :D

Been there Lucy! Been there! ;D ;D

I agree, try leaving it on a bit longer, but keep in mind our hair is darker while wet, so it's actually lighter than it appears to you now.
If not? You have already saved in the cost of your costume for Halloween, you've got the top half bought and paid for already! ;) ;D

Lucy - hope you are not too much of a tigerrr! You are very brave, letting hubby yank your hair through the holes in the cap.  I had it done once, years ago, and thought I was going to punch the hairdresser!

Your post made me smile.  The last time I had my hair colored (by a hairstylist) it turned Lucille Ball red!!!!!!!  I was mortified!  However, she was able to tone it down some and make it not so hideous.

I am on Plaquenil and apparently hair coloring and Plaquenil don't mix!

I hope your hair turned out better after the 2nd go round!  If not- October is a month that everyone expects to see people dressed a bit differently!

Cheryl

Lucy,
Please tell us your hair turned out well!

Think she must be at the hairdressers getting repairs done LOL.

Oh, oh, I forgot about this post!  I left the bleaching stuff (and the cap) for about an hour.  I thought if it's not done now ok, but I don't want to melt my already thin and thinning hair.

The hair turned out just right!  I've got the roots done and my hair is a nice shade of dark brown with blonde highlights.   Now I'm thinking if I should have my sister give me a perm (we used to do this to each other all the time) or have my hairdresser do it.  I'll think about it over the weekend and then decide.  My sis will be leaving for 6 mos in Fla in a month, so it's now or never.  I saved at least $60 by coloring and frosting my hair and I'll feel safe doing this pretty much from now on.

My rheumy told me to get some Biotin for my hair problems.  I did buy a bottle, but somehow, someone threw it out and it wasn't me.  I'm also on Plaquenil for almost 3 years and have colored hair the whole time.  I have less now, though.
