We are sad today as we mourn the loss of our cat Kathy today.

My daughters each had a cat, their names were Kathy and Poncho. Kathy was laying peacefully and lifeless in the yard this morning, she gave my daughter Laurie 19 years worth of great kitty joy.

Kathy had a routine of standing at my daughters door way at nite and calling to her for bed time. From the time that my daughter was 8 years old Kathy was her bed mate. Kathy was  very feline anti social by nature, although when my daughter was in tears, Kathy would appear from no where and stay on Laurie's lap until her distress was over.

My husband called our daughter of the news earlier today. It so broke his heart and we wept together when he  told me of her request to bury Kathy below her window.

Poncho the very social able cat who has verbalized loudly and frequently all his life, so much so he thinks his name is 'shut up'.  :)
He is alive, but very slow moving. He has been Kathy's side kick for 18 years.

For the past few months poncho was the one we were watching closely and expectantly for his last breath.
I would imagine Poncho will miss Kathy too.
They have been pardners for many years.
Poncho has spent many years laying right in the path that he knows we walk in, just to make sure he gets noticed. I have spent years tripping over him and complaining of his constant cat verbalizing. But he is our faithful lovable cat of 18 years. He has now taken up laying in the middle of our drive way. When we come up our drive he has recently decided he does not have to move.....we drive around him. Today when I was passenger with a friend driving out of my drive way, she ask me, 'will he move'? I said no he will not , you have to drive around him......... Cats are so funny like that. :)

I will keep you posted on Poncho.

We have had a very sad day , kimbo

Aw Kimbo - I feel for you. It's always sad losing a well loved pet. It sounds as though her leaving was peaceful though - and 19 years is a good life time for a cat.

I had two cats that both made it to 17. They were brothers and both developed thyroid problems so their last two years were spent on tablets. They died within 3 months of each other but in their case there was not a lot of love lost between them.

I hope that Poncho goes on and makes it into his twenties.

They are lucky felines to have lived happy lives in a loving home.

Aww Kimbo, I'm so sorry your Kathy has gone.  However, I am glad to hear she went peacefully.  So did my Peanut - Aussie girl.

They really become a part of the family as if they were our children, only odd and furry. ;D  I know you will miss her and I'm sure Poncho will too.

Hugs, Pooh

I am so so sorry for the sadness your family is going though since you lost your kitty Kathy. I'm sure you know that I am one who can truly and totally understand those feelings as I am a great animal lover! They definitely become part of the family especially when they have been with us for so long....and it is such a loss when they move on from our physical lives.

It sounds like you all loved her a lot and she loved all of you right back. And it sure sounds like she had a long and good life....but the loss is still very hard. Just remember that she will never totally disappear from your lives because you will always keep her memory alive within your hearts!

And yes...I agree...other pets do feel the pain of loss as well.....especially when they were together so long. Please give Poncho extra hugs and kitty kisses (if he will ALLOW that  ;) ) and let us know how he is doing.

Sending lots of hugs to you friend...my thoughts are with you and your family!

Awww Kimbo, I am so sorry to hear that you lost a precious kitty. They make such a mark on our hearts, and it's so sad when they have to leave us.  Even if we think we are prepared for it, we never really are.

I'm so sorry for your family's loss. My thoughts are with you.

Hugs,

Aw Kimbo,

I'm so sorry that you've lost your Kathy, she sounds like she was an absolutely wonderful kitty.  It's funny how animals and kids go so well together, the critters always seem to know which child needs their attention more than another member of the family.

Hugs to you and your family -

Patze

(((Kimbo))),

Sorry to hear that your precious family kitty, Kathy, has passed away.  19 yrs. is a long time for a cat . . . wow, can you imagine 133 human years!!  Kathy was a pretty black cat . . we've had several black cats thru the years.  As with a human, you will definitely feel the loss of not having Kathy around . . . laying on the couch, her curling up next to you, etc.

I'm sure Poncho WILL miss having Kathy around too.  Give him some extra loving as he will be grieving also.

Sorry for your loss . . . .

Hugs,
Bucky

Thank You all you cat lovers!

Poncho is still doing well. We drive around him every day. Yesterday he was so laid out. I jumped out of my truck thinking this is it. He raised his head up and looked at me like "oh just drive around me", So I did, with a big smile on my face.

When we moved to the house we are in now 17 or 18 years ago, I remember we had trouble moving Kathy cat.

It took 2yrs Before she decided to live here with us. Every time we let her out, she would dash out the front door and shoot off the front of our deck (about 12 feet high)  making a straight path back to our home we moved from, not far away. It was next to our ole church. When ever my husband (the pastor for those who don't know) would get in his car to come home, Kathy would jump in and come home for a couple of days, till she shot out the front door again. This went on for 2 whole years. She finally graduate to walking around the brick ledge on the house, she made laps all the way around the house. Till she got brave enough to get on the ground. That is why my daughter did not take her cat Kathy with her where she lives.

When we lived by the Church......a couple of times while my husband was preaching , the congregation would all giggle, as one of our cats, who had found an open door would prowl around behind my husband. And he would have a look like, Did I say something funny????

Cats ARE FUNNY like that.

Love you ALL and thanks for the community Hug, kimbo

Kimbo I am so very sorry for your loss.  Pets are truly a part of our family.  Our sweet Marble dog passed away two months ago and I still look for her each day.  Our cat Jack/Sal immediately noticed the absence.  He is a very animated cat and always lets you know his opinion on things.  Suddenly he was silent and was doing none of his usual patterns.  After a couple of weeks I had to start forcefully trying to get him to interact.  I was really getting concern about his grief.  Finally he is back into his normal routine but will still occasionally go sniff around where my dog's bed was.  I guess trying to figure out what happened to that pesky old dog.

I know you will miss your Kathy.  I truly know your loss and I wish sweet memories for you and your family with much laughter when you remember all the joy she gave to your family.
