Usually just coming home from vacation is enough to have me start a mild flare. The 'stress" (albeit fun) of packing, traveliing around, go go go while you're gone, then unpacking and sandy wet beach laundry for five, etc, is a enough to start it up. This time, got a call while we still on the road that my sis and her daughter and her 2 little ones would like to come for a visit, as in the day after we  get home. We came in on Sunday to a broken air conditioner (in Phoenix mind you) then a few minutes later discover the upstairs toilet was busted.  So company shows up to a warm downstairs. limited facilities and loads of laundry as I couldn't use the dryer with no a/c or we would have died. lol, The top rack of the dishwasher also managed to break. Finding an ASAP a/c repair in Phoenix in mid July is like finding a needle in a haystack, so after many hours on the phone, I found someone. Got  air fixed and the toilet replaced and the clothes dryer just stopppppped working. Ok this is just funny now.. Entertained my family, which was a blast, but a little taxing. The little kids were so fun though, it was worth it!
In the middle of this, I had a couple of non-sjs related Dr appts, one found a gigantic bone spur on my C-3 cervical spine, which was apparently what was limiting me from turning my head, I mean huge as as in so huge he was going around the office with the xray going to the other Dr's "Dude, you HAVE to see this thing".. He was able to do an injection to at least give me some movement, but also referred me to a different Dr who took more xrays and says that yes iit is ginormous, but it is even more bizarre that I have ZERO, nothing, no disc or cushion between my C6 and C7 vertebrae. He believes this is a fairly bad situation, but has not yet told me what can be done, so I am a little in limbo there. It is affecting my vocal chords, making me hoarse and have difficulty speaking. He says he has never seen anything like it, especially someone my age. It's also creating the sensation that my wind pipe is closing. it is not, I know that, but it's freaky and I would prefer not to feel this if it all possible!
So just for a little cherry on top of all this excitement, my mom with mildish alzhemer's who lives with me, was visiting our other sister, mixed up her medications and accidentally over dosed by taking too many pills of the wrong kind. My sis had her at the ER today, and she will be OK, but I wil need to manage her pills now so she will be safe, she may not be happy about losing one more independence, it makes me sad  :'(  I already got her a pill organizer and did them for the week.
Since I always look for the positive  ;D On the plus side, I did have a great time w. my sis her daughter and grands,  she visited w/ a couple of her oldest friends from Jr High here and that was fun too. I managed to get the house really clean as well which feels great. I sleptt most of this afternoon and feel like I could sleep til Tuesday if they'd let me :D,  feel that special feeling my lymph glands under my jaw and arms, and have that  lovely "Flu" feeling I'm sure you all know and love  :o
Whew that's enough of that!

WOW Missyb,

You may need another vacation.    :D

You are probably in a lot of pain also. What treatment are they recommending?

I hope things are slowing down and you get at least a rest.

Chile, You almost wore me out just reading and thinking about all of that!

You need some serious me time after all of that! WHEW!

You know what as a matter of fact I have been thinking about just that, I do believe I am going to plan a spa (minus the massage) day. My 2 year old grand daughter, the love of my life (got to say that before I say the rest) was just here for a month's "visit" from out of state without the parents, by request (demand) of my daughter, the mother. Well my husband works and could not take her, so that left me. I took her to work with me for the first two weeks (she was still just scoping the joint out) I loved it, got plenty of Grandma kisses. Well by the third week I realized my office was NOT big enough for the both of us, besides my very able bodied mother needed some joy, so she went there for a few hours during the day while I worked. She was supposed to go to the other Grands on the weekends. After the third day of her coming I looked forward to the weekends  I was sore feeling bruised all over, those hugs were turning toxic! (she loves to play all over me cuddling, kissing my arms, poking and such). Well when the weekend came and they came for her she decided not to go!  By the third week I thought I was surely at death's door, I woke up one morning and told my husband "I can't move a muscle, Im hurting all over", all that cuddling, etc. was about to do me in!

I miss her, but I got to tell you the truth, I have never been so glad to see that child, "the love of my life" leave. I had her packed and ready to go at least a week ahead of time! I have been bedridden (except church/ "NO HUGGING PLEASE!" ) every since.

What was supposed to be a joyous time for me, damned near killed me too! MY HEART GOES OUT TO THOSE OF YOU WITH SMALL CHILDREN!

GET YOU ALL THE REST YOU NEED!

Missy, I too live in Phoenix, and my car thermometer registered 119 degrees on Saturday!  My theory is that houses do not like to be left alone. When the residents go on vacation, or away, they like to cause mischief.

We spend a few months here, and a few months there (mostly in Colorado at my daughter's house) and each time we come home, something is broken.

Last summer it was our AC (heck in PHX), and the dryer.
Last winter, someone had thrown a large rock through our sunroom window, and the room was a mess from the weather. Also the water heater died.

This spring, the AC air handler, the washer and the alarm system went bust. I really think there is an appliance conspiracy when we are gone!
