ello all

thought is pop in to say i had my lip biopsy yesterday, oral surgeon was really nice and very quick, 6 salivary glands taken out, and 4 sutures , lip a bit swollen and one bit of it still numb, but im hoping thats just swelling, go back to him in 3 weeks time for the results, came of the special diet for a week, so there would be some immune response going on in my body, sounds strange youd be wanting a positive result, but if ive to have the biopsy , best it shows i am definitive sjogrens and diet is working for me.

Seen my rheumy last week, who was very pleased with my progress and quite shocked i was back at work, when i went over the diet again, she smiled as if it must have been something other that sjogrens wrong, i explained i still had dry skijn, eyes, and mouth, just not quite as bad, and joint pain and myalgia under control, so she wants the lip biopsy and ill see me in 6 months, if my progress is same, she will discharge me, wow great isnt it you get yourself on top of things and they just discharge you, hey ho.

Still been busy with the house, kids off school means i dont have 5 minutes to call my own at times, and been working a crappy run of shifts, least things are comming together, and were settling into new house great

Good to hear that the lip biopsy was not too bad... I havent had this done as I am too scared!!! Maybe down the line when I am more desperate for a proper diagnosis might I pluck up the courage!!

Hi McT  :)

Hope the lip biopsy shows something for you. I'm surprised your rheumy is thinking of discharging you though. I've never been as ill as you got but I still see my rheumy once a year and he seems to think that will be ongoing.

Really glad your diet has worked so well for you. Hope you keep feeling OK!!

Take care - Scottie  :)

ST  thanks :)

Yodeb  really the procedure wasnt anything to over worry about, the numbing injectionwas worst bit, after that dont feel anything, bit tender since, but nothinbg to some of the symptoms we put up with, but my advice buy some drinking straws, you can then drink easier, i found i was dribbling a bit forst night, and saves the liquid passing over the sutures, but all in all it wasnt half as bad as i had imagined

Glad it went ok T and hope you are recovering well.  Let's hope it comes up with a useful diagnosis :)

I'd be concerned about your rheumy wanting to discharge you in 6 months if you still progress.  Surely you can still have flares etc even if you are doing well at the moment. You would need to be able to call and see her in that case, not start a whole new referral again.

Good to hear you are enjoying your new house etc and kids off school.  We still have another week and a half to go.  XX Ailsa

PS did you kitties move ok?  Hope they are settled

Hi T

glad things are going well for you. About the rheumie discharging you, I saw a rheumy two years ago, when I was diagnosed, and have not ssen anyone since. Seems if I have any major problems, I have to ask to be re-referred. We have a shrotage of rheumies, so they only see people in 'need'.
