Hi,

My Rheumy's office left a message this morning telling me that my inflammation markers are slightly elevated (which is not that much of a surprise) and also that one of my liver function tests is slightly elevated and I have to repeat them in 2 weeks. She said that they were nonspecific and could have been caused by my terrible respiratory infection. I knew that could be the case with the inflammation markers but can that be the case with the liver function test increase? I am a little worried. I hope it is not the plaquenil causing it. I am hoping it is just because I was taking so much medicine for my resp. infection, but don't know if that can even cause it. Any thoughts?

hmmm, slightly elevated, if it's the bilirubin, it could be Gilbet's Syndrome,  a benign elevation, which I seems to be fairly common amongst us here, that's my only thought  :)

missy, Don't panic until they tell you to. So many of the tests we have can be elevated some and it can be due to our diet, being dehydrated or over hydrated, infections, etc you name it. Just be thankful that they checked your blood results good and want to do the recheck. Some docs might have waited months not weeks to recheck. Take care and let us know what it is. Irish ;D

Oh thank you Irish!!!! I really have to calm down about it. I have this terrible tendency to think the worst and worry about every worse case scenario possible! This disease is just so unpredictable it has me feeling very vulnerable most of the time. My husband also pointed out that because this upper respiratory infection was so severe I was literally taking Dayquil and Nyquil around the clock for 5 days and that is a lot of Tylenol. And the infection I had was pretty severe so the liver may have been responding to that. Who knows.
Anyway, you are right, I am thankful my Dr is so attentive, and I am going to try not to think about it for two weeks!  :)

Dont worry - my rheumy says my liver function has been raised for nearly a year and he wasnt bothered about it... I have only just had an ultrasound on my liver through the GP as she has done separate blood tests and is a little more thorough..  am awaiting the results of the ultrasound.

That makes me feel better fluffiebunnie! Please let me know how that goes, and I will be praying it turns out OK.
Thank you!!!
