trouble falling asleep and staying asleep

hi,

I noticed in the posts a couple of people mentioning having chronic sleep trouble.

At the cost of sounding like a broken record, this is a symptom of celiacs, too. About 5 years ago or more, I found myself just going thru night after night half asleep. Too much asleep to get up and do something, and yet not sleeping, either.

A good friend and I that talked and talked on the phone one day hit on something and I tried it. It worked. But like other things, I would just try going to sleep without doing it, and again, I would not sleep.

So, at the expense of sounding really, really 'hokey' -- my friend was my senior and would say we should not be afraid to try something at the risk of sounding silly. 'Nothing ventured, nothing gained,' she would say.

Since then, I asked a physician about it. He smiled, nodded, and said, "Yes, it would work." Has something to do about the circulation in the feet and ankles.

So, anyway, if you would like to try something a little silly sounding, that works every time for me...now don't laugh. Or, oh, well, we'll go ahead and laugh together:)

If you have a small foot bath, use hot as you can stand water. Soak a minute or so. Pat dry and immediately put on a pair of fluffy cotton socks that you have gotten ahead of time and have nearby. Only, very important, don't pull them all the way on. It affects the circulation, and you will fall asleep but will wake up again a short while later. Honest, I couldn't make this stuff up. :)

Scrunch the socks over the toes and to about mid-way to the center of the arch and leave it there. Sleep well.

Hope some of you try this, as it really does work. If you don't have a foot bath, and I found this out traveling, take a clean hand towel. Run it under the faucet. Wring it out.
Put it into a microwave oven. About 55-60 secs. Carefully take it out -- it will be very hot and steamy. Use it to warm one and then the other foot. Pat dry and scrunch the socks.

This has been such a blessing to me. I hope you will think it ok that I shared it with you. God Bless. I talked with one lady -- I run into these conversations all the time with perfect strangers -- when I least expect it. Her husband was not sleeping. She finally made him go to the doctor to find out about it. He was diagnosed with celiacs. Just because of the trouble sleeping. Celiacs is an autoimmune reaction that affects nutrition absorption because of tissue damage to the villa.

Sincerely,  laney

Hi Laney, of course it's ok to share ideas here with us.. wacky or not!  We like and pray for cures to all thing's bad..

Since SS is a wacky complaint, then it's most likely someone will find a wacky cure one day..

I don't have much sleep problem , but I can't wait to hear what those who have will think.. I do hope they try it tho'

Anything is possible where we are concerned.. Thank's Dolly

Hi Laney

That sounds delightful!  I have trouble sleeping generally, and I can certainly never get to sleep if I have cold feet.  I haven't done anything as sophisticated as you suggest but I do always have a warm bath before going to bed and then keep my feet warm with bed socks.  I have to make sure that my feet don't get cold for one second or the benefit is lost.  The only problem is that sometimes I wake up because my feet are too warm - so maybe your system would help with that.

Thanks for posting.
