jas, Hi, I took the salogen for a couple of years and it helps. The one thing I learned was that I could not tolerate the 10 mgm right off the bat. I had to take the 5 mgm tablets. I sweat so bad on the 10 mgm and it seems that there was something else that bothered me--nothing really serious just bothersome.

I was able to get along with the 5 mgm tabs and took one about 4 times a day. They don't last the whole 4 hours, but taking one a half hour before you eat really does help. As far as the sweating goes that is just part of the fun of taking the drug and you learn to live with it.

I can't take the salogen anymore as I take another medication for my myasthenia gravis and they aren't compatible. However, the drug I take now also makes me sweat big time so I am just destined to use a lot of deodorant I guess.

It also helps to take the last salogen of the day prior to bedtime so that you don't have so much dryness at night. Irish ;D

Hi Jas,

I have been taking salagen for quite some time now and it works well for me....I tried Evoxac and that didn't do much for me at all. The one thing about salagen is that it works fairly quick....I am prescribed 5 mg tablets that I can take up to 5 times a day...but I usually take about 3. My rheumy told me I can space this med how I need to and if I don't need it I don't take it. Its not one that has to build up in your system to work.

Good luck with it...I hope it helps you as it has helped me!
