Hi  :)

Me and my big mouth. In a couple of posts recently I've boasted about not having come down with colds, stomach bugs etc for years. My immune system obviously fights them off very effectively as well as fighting me!  Well - I've got my come uppance.

A few days ago one side of my head ached from the jaw right up to the top. I took Ibuprofen on top of my other painkillers (safe enough but I'm meant to stay off NSAIDs) and it helped. Yesterday I woke up feeling as though the back of my throat had been sandblasted and I have a cough, that at present is coming from just below my throat I reckon. High up, sqeaky and persistent.

I had an appontment with my GP yesterday anyway because I've had peeling skin on my hands. Needless to say it had pretty well healed up when I saw her but I took photos along, which she was actually quite impressed with and told me that if it happens again, to get an emergency appointment because she'd like a dermatologist to see it as she hasn't a clue what could have caused it.

I got her to check my throat out too because I did wonder whether it was thrush, which I've had at the back of my throat before. She took a swab but reckons its a virus.

Today my throat feels all 'clagged up' and I'm still coughing. So saying - I'm not actually feeling bad. No fever or anything. We worked late yesterday so were told to take today off so I'm just having a lazy day, which is what I tend to do when I'm not at work anyway.

Teach me not to speak too soon!!

Take care - Scottie  :)

Oh Scottie!

I'm so sorry to hear that. Darn Virus! Hope you get over it quickly! (I make myself laugh) Glad you're taking it easy and I do hope it passes soon.

Chickpea

Oh Scottie, you poor soul.

You definitely don't deserve this.  I'm sure if people got their comeuppance you'd be low on the list of people deserving a nasty virus.  If the world worked that way there would be a lot of sick bankers right now!  Not to mention property speculators, overpaid TV presenters and arms manufacturers.  (I'll stop there before I offend too many people!)

Glad you're having a lazy rest day.  Have you got plans for the holiday weekend?  Are you forecast good weather?  It's been sunny here all day in between the sea mist rolling in which is beautiful but a bit chilly.

Take care - Chickpea

Chickpea!  You certainly didn't offend me!

Hi Scottie
Sorry to hear you're poorly.
Interesting note about the doctor wanting you to see a dermatologist. We had a talk at the connective tissue disease day given by a dermatologist and she was saying how little training doctors get in skin complaints. Had a look at a selection of available products too.
The more I read on here the more I realize that I am very fortunate to be under the Portsmouth NHS Trust as they do appear to take our condition seriously.
Have you heard anything about the National Register that they are setting up at the moment. I would be really interested in being part of it but think that as I have already had MALT lymphoma I would be excluded. Wandered how much you had heard about it.
Cheers

Hi all  :)

Thanks for the good wishes. You'll be glad to hear I've had many viruses worse than this one and although I'm coughing - I actually feel better than I did last week. I thought I was in for a flare - and I think it was actually the virus creeping up. Can't blame everything on SjS!!

Sara - I've heard nothing about a national register. I'm due to see my rheumatologist next week for an annual "MOT" - so I may ask him - if I remember!

The only hangover from the peeling skin is that I have a touch of infection in my left thumb which I will keep an eye on. (Never peeled down to blood level before!)

Scottie,

Glad you are feeling a bit better this evening (well, it's morning already for you).  Guess you'll have to keep a block of wood next to your computer so you can knock on it every day as you sign on to the computer.   :D

Take care and rest up this weekend.  :)

Scottie, A flare or a virus?  Now you'll have everyone hoping for the virus.  Glad you are feeling better.  The peeling skin sounds interesting.  (yes, I just looked at my hands)  Seems every time a symptom is mentioned I stop and think - do I have that.  Have a restful weekend. Roxanne

Hey Scottie,

Glad you are feeling better.  Sorry for your virus attack.  Lets here it for lazy days.  :)

Every thing is not sjogs stuff, but our sjoggie bodies add agitation to the factors. If we take an antihistamine it aids our already dry stuff.

I hope you are resting peaceably as I add my well wished to you.   ;D   kimbo
