Wow your posts on the Mayo Clinic brought back a lot of things I forgot about when I visited the Mayo Clinic, it's been about 45 years since I was there, but it sounds like nothing has changed.

I too got an all in your head dx, which later turned out to be scar tissue pinching on a nerve, as soon as the tissue was removed the problem went away.

I am uncertain of which mayo you are planning to go to, but if it is the Scottsdale location, I can refer you to the sharpest rheum in the valey but he is not w/ mayo and does not take ins. However I found he saved me over $500 on prescriptions last year which made up for the intial consult  and now I only go every 6 months and pay for an office visit.  PM me and I'll give you his info if you are in Az. I truy believe one visit with him would be better than a week at Mayo.

That is so interesting that your rheumy takes cash only. There are more and more docs that are going that route. They can charge less as they don't need all the help and computers/programs, etc to keep up with our electronic age of confusion.

I wonder how they will work out. I would think that there would be less testing done, etc. I wonder if there will be these types of docs if the universal health care comes to be!!!! Hate to say it but if Lyndon Johnson had not ok'ed the medicare back in the early 60's we would not have such a health care mess in this country. All the abuse, overcharging, etc money is truly the root of all evil. Irish

Irish, are you responding to my post? he takes credit and checks as well as cash, but does not bill insurance, since he is out of network you have to file it yourself. but for me it's still cheaper than when I went to the other who took inusrance since I am off the expensive meds
