Hope lip biopsy goes well today T, thinking of you.  Really hope it does confirm for Drs what you already know, and that it isn?t too uncomfortable.  Take it easy afterwards ? lie on the settee and request endless Ben & Jerrys!  Post when you?re feeling up to it.  XX Ailsa

how lovely !! thankyou so much !!

sadly i didnt get it done today, he wants some more bloods done , but couldnt have been nicer!! said just relax i ll read your notes, went through my opthomologist report, my rheumy report, all my bloods,

did my spit test ( spitting in cup for 15 minutes ) measured it and said well your mouth sure is dryer than normal, youd expect 1.5- 2 mls of saliva he said, and youve got less than 0.5, told me he would be doing the biopsy in a few weeks, id be called in for that, said sometimes its negative, sometime postive, makes no darn odds he said, youve got reduced saliva, very dry eyes, joint ache, fatigue and brain fog, he said if its not SJS , he aint a doctor lol.

Told me to not worry myself at all, i said i was slightly worried a sid heard some terrible stories of ppl`s lip biopsies, he smiled and siad yes but i didnt do them, it will be a very small cut, just a few glands and id heal fast, he has done more than he can recall and i was in safe hands, never had anyone with a numb lip afterwards, so put it out my mind !!

Phew!!  disappointed it wasnt over with today, but glad im in good hands with a sugreon who was so thorough and reassuring :D i knew him from my student placement , he alwasy was a great surgeon.

thanks again aisla, your a star !!

Hi McT  :)

Sounds like you've found another 'keeper' there! Sorry its not all over and done with. If he's so sure its SjS can't he just recommend treatment without the biopsy??    I've never had positive blood or a biopsy but the dx is on all my medical notes now and no one is querying it.

Take care - Scottie  :)

god alone knows :-s, seems they all say SJS now but no one has officially given me the title, and im still lip biopsy bound.

I am hoping with my symptoms, schimmer and eye evaporation being so bad, saliva production being what it is, and fatigue, ear probs, hearing loss, that no matter what lip biopsy says rheumy will offically DX me, certainly she is prepared to treat me, but dear god 30 years of symtoms, leading to this surely is enough already!!

Just need to pray lip biopsy is positive, being honest i think it will be ive strangely been asking everyone i know to show me their inner lower lip and its smooth, mines has small lumps , one is annoyingly so, looking at everyone elses i realise mines doesnt seem normal, but infiltrated, surely it will show up and i can get off this limbo land hike, im totally fed up with it now, if not i ll be hollering for mri of glands instead, until someone gives into me !!

fingers, legs and toes crossed, its positive, i mean its SJS for goodness sake, what more do they want ??

Oh T, sorry you're still kept waiting but sounds like he is an excellent doctor so maybe he knows best.  At least when you have it done you will have faith in him and know you have nothing to fear.  I know it seems like such a formality as your symptoms are clear but you have waited so long, you need confirmation.  Take care xx Ailsa
