Cold that only lasts a day? Is this SJS?

Hi all,
Not diagnosed yet, but strongly suspicious that I have SJS awaiting tests and rheumy appt...

I just wondered if any of you have had a sense that you are getting a cold - by that I mean feeling pretty unwell, with a sore throat and that funny dry weird feeling between your nose and throat (not sure what the technical term forthis - the bit going down the back between them?)... But then it disappears the next day and you feel fine again.  I ahve had these for quite a few years now, sometimes just lasting an evening, sometimes just a day, but never turning into anything.  I have now started to wonder whether this is an "attack" from the immune system?? My temp did rise a bit (tho it is always lower than 98.6/37 due to thyroid, so it didn't go over that, just higher than usual)...

Trying to make sense of things, really appreciate your help for such minor issues!

Yes, Leah, I've experienced that on numerous occasions and I think it is just what you said.

My daughter's name is Leah.   Beautiful name.

Hi Leah  :)

I've been feeling exactly like that all this week! (Well - on and off)  ::)

My pet theory is that sometimes I ought to get a cold but my super strong and stupid immune system actually fights it off and attacks me as well. I haven't actually had a proper cold for years and I've never been put on immunosupressants so nothing has made me more prone to them.

I'm probably completely wrong but its just what I think.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Hi Anna,

Thanks for your reply, and such a sweet thing to say about my name, I admit I really like it too!!!  It's nice because it's unusual enough to not know any others, but not so unusual it's weird!  Glad you have the same thing too with this cold thing (well not glad for you of course, but you know what I mean!).  I have had it for ages, and you just start to wondr fi you are going loopy!

Hi Scottie,

I had never thought of it that way, perhaps that is exactly what it is, although I have to be honest that I do catch a lot of stuff that's going, I've often wondered if my immune system just bgets a bit lost and doesn't attack the right thing!!

I thought I was the only person that experience this strange phenomenon,  I alway thought it had something to do with my sinuses. Do any normal people have this, or just freaks like us?

lelole

My partner doesn't have it, an he says he's normal  ;D (well he's pretty darn healthy with no sign of an AI disease)... It may be sinuses tho - I have been prone to sinusitis in the past...

I get the same thing, I just thought I was lucky never to get colds like everyone else. However a couple of weeks ago I had my first cold in years, god was it awful. Since then all I've done is blow my nose, the cold has gone but the mucus problem won't go away. I started to think it was allergies, can anyone help with how to stop it?

Its winter here and for the past 6 months or so i have had the exact same issue, probably for the past couple years,...

i feel achey, headache, low fever stuffy, very very tired in the evening then i feel fine in the morning, its really wierd, and i like the rest have not been plagued with many sicknesses, think the last time was 2003 but it was a whopper..

didnt think of it as relating, but probably now that you mention it!

I get this "one day thing" quite a bit and do not regularly get sick with colds, flu, etc.  An exception was a couple of months ago and I got really sick with bronchitis.  Gave it to hubby too.  Lucy

I thought it was a fluke that I would sick for a day or two max and then it went away as fast as it started.  It's strange that I don't get colds much anymore since I started using the CPAP (I used to get them and sinus infections all the time.  And yes, I've got all the fingers crossed along with anything else I can cross including my eyes to keep the bad juju away! :D)).

Take care -
