WOW....folks what ever you do don't let your Health Insurance go and don't

just not go to the Doctor because you can't afford it...was told by a Disability Lawyer today

that I may have a Disability but that he would not represent me because I have

not been to a doctor in two years.....Was DX'd almost 4 years ago...but since I have

not had the money or insurance to get treatment and I guess build a thicker medical

record it isn't in his best intrest to take on a case for me.....lol...I guess I should have not

let that other Rheumy get me upset and feel like a fool...I just gave up...folks please don't

give up!!!

Holy Cow JJ, I am so sorry to hear this.  It's hard enough getting the disability without having a lawyer tell you this.

I hope things work out for you.

I know...I have no idea where my heart is now cause it just sank...

I know I could work a part time job...with no benefits....and still

not be able to afford getting personal insurance..which does nothing

towards getting treatment...right now I hurt so bad...I'm afraid my retina

may be detaching..I'm just plain scared and confused as to what I

am going to do....plus this extra long lasting flare I'm having is a pain.

Ibuprofen isn't helping at all and my knee can't make up its mind

if it wants to get better or not...seems to do better then whamo....

Right now I think I'd be happy with a doctor that made me feel like

an idiot and called me crazy cause at least I would have it in a file.

you could have been in remission for 2 years all they know.

I have no idea what to say, i feel very lucky having the NHS even if seeing a specialist is a 5 month wait.I cannot imagine your stress right now, i truly cant.
Dont give up either, try another lawyer, theyre likely like dcotors, good and bad ones, dont just take ones opinion, i know thats easier said than done when your ill and worn out.

Your in my thoughts JJ ,  i have little advice a si dont know your system , but i wish i had

You hit one of life's catch 22s, you need lots of paperwork from doctors, your sick, but have no insurance, because 50 million people in this country can't afford the high price of medical insurance, my heat goes out to you and everyone else in your position.

JJ

Got a phone call from another lawyer, they suggested that I look into medicaid

get started with a doctor then apply first time on my own then before I get my denial

to come in and see them...there may be hope..well at least a little light..I hate that

I have to go this route...but if I get to a doctor and start getting treated maybe

I'll be able to hold a job...then I can pay back with taxes and not go on SS...payed

in for most of my life...gosh I'm trying to make myself feel better about this.

i dont know your system but i know mines.

onc emyself and my ex split i was down on my luck, took a house in i guess what youd call projects , i could have claimed full benefits for me and my kids, but i worked and paid tax for an extra 30 pounds ( 50 dollars) a week as i could and i am a proud person, i live amongst ppl who DO NOT want to work, put into their country, and our system is abused , at one point 1 in 5 glasgow men were on sick pay and NHS and rent paid here, now i like the system as i feel though its not great income here, there is an income , no need to starve or not get meds.

i worked and paid my full way though i wasnt much better off than the lazy malingerers i lived next to .I still agree with free health care and benefits for those who genuinely need them, thats always been my politics, im socialist, not capitalist.

Now youve worked all your days, ill health GENUINE ill health has found you, and god alone knows youd rather be healthy and work, for at least on your rest days you had a life.Dont you ever feel guilty your in this position, this isnt a choice, and if and when my time comes to claim sick benefit i ll not feel a days guilt for i know within me that when i was well i worked like a dog for little more than if i hadnt, but i brought my kids up to believe in 2 things,  work for what youve got and make it an honest days work , be it stacking shelves or scientist matters not long as its honest and pay your way in life, and fight for a system that means when your unable to you get help , the country you put into helps you .

youve done the first thing, worked all your days, now , your time to take back what you put in, no more , no less.

if wishes were horses you wouldnt be in this position, youd be healthy , and while your not, blame sjogrens not yourself

Thank you Haggis...I know systems are put into place to help people down on their luck..

But as you say most of them aren't down they just don't try, willing to let others who do take

care of them and I've seen so much of that here in the US. I feel ashamed because of what

I see and yet I am in a position in which this is the only way. I am sure there are folks getting

assistants that genuinely need it but I see so many driving fancy cars, wearing expensive

jewelry sitting in a room waiting to get their food stamps. Go by the housing authorities and

see those fancy cars sitting in the parking area. I do not want food stamps or living quarters,

or my bills paid...I just want to get to a doctor, get put on whatever it is than can help me

be more productive so I can go back to work and not worry about loosing a job because I am

out sick to often. Sorry about my rant but I to through all the jokes get frustrated as well.

you rant as much as you need to. I know your frustrated, and i cannot imagine , as im not in your position, but needing medical help is nessesity, not being a taker, big difference.

I say go apply on your own like they adviced, then get another lawyer, and get your much needed help, the difference between you and these takers with their cars, is you feel that ashamed feeling , they dont, simple  as.The joke round here is only drug dealers drive a BMW, sad but true.

Alwys be ppl abuse a system, but its doesnt detract from what it was originally set up for, which was to help those who genuinely needed it, and you do.

dont apologise for your frustration, no one could claim they wouldnt be this way in same boat, just you rant and get it out, if it helps, whats the harm ? *hug*

Thank you Haggis, Epson, and Pooh for listening, I really appreciate your words and thoughts. It hurts

me to see and hear what others here go through, Epsons deal just breaks my heart

as do the trials of all my SJS family...I love you all and wish nothing but the best...

thank you so much for being here, just wish it wasn't under the circumstance that we are.
