Hi all hope everyone getting around, have a question about dr's. I have several. My GP, my rhuemy, a neurologist, a respirologist, a gastroenternologist, a hepitologist and urologist. That's a pile of ologists! Thankfully I only see my rhuemy regularly and my GP well, when ever he's not to busy to give me 10 minutes.
Recently my rhuemy is trying to do her best to understand why my SED Rate is so darn high all the time. I tell her I hurt allot, everywhere so she sent me to everybody. Thankfully again most every test and visit reveiled only inflammation mostly ruling out serious stuff and normal sjs stuff. But I am still working with a couple for some unexplained findings. But you know it amazes me how fast and how relieved some of the ruler-outers are when I'm not their problem anymore. You can just see and hear them exhail. Gees it makes me feel so bad, like I wanted all this to be happening. Any of you know what I'm talking about? Sandra

I know exactly what you're talking about. I've seen a pile of 'ologists' too. What really gets me is that quite a few of them know very little about SjS. All my notes seem to go back to my GP - not my rheumy and things, that I believe are SjS related - from everything I've learnt in here - aren't seen as being. All the 'dots' never get joined up.

The last 'ologist' I saw was a neurologist whose parting words were - "Well I don't think there's actually anything wrong with you at all" I'm still seething about that one!

I told my GP that all my doc should meet like King Arthur around the round table and discuss the best way to treat me and the symptoms. I have prescriptions from 5 different doctors, and the pharmacy called and said I need a consult because some of the meds contradicted others.

i feel like a hot potato... all the time. I think if they cant figure it out then pass you off...then its not their problem anymore. I never know who to call. And I never get it it right, I am usually in tears by the time someone sees me on top of whatever is going on because of frustration. which leads to the psych comments. I agree with the round table but then who would they pass the buck too?

Funny I have had the same picture in my head about the round table....but as you sayCollie I'm sure i'd be the hot potatoe going round and round that table anyway. So silly to have all this information and nobody is interested in anything but their own specialty...as if with this illness you could seperate anything as it's all conected! Sandra

And especially relate to the frustration making me cry and then get told I need psych help!

I've started saving for a trip to a Sjogen's Clinic someday.

This is when you separate the real doctors from the pill dispensers.  We have all gone through the same thing, but now I have hit the jackpot and have found several doctors that have a pretty good knowledge of SS.

What surprises me is the lack of intellectual curiosity that so many doctors have, no interest in learning about SS.  It is pretty sad when you know more about SS than 90% of doctors.

Hi Epson how are you doing? It is amazing the lack of "want-to-understand", you know in any other occupation or career where somebody has an interest or even passion to learn more they do, nothing stops them, not even being busy. Busy might slow things down a bit but the interest goes on when one is given the time to pick it up again. I just don't get it with regard to the medical profession. I suffer from this mess but also find it very interesting how the body works, or doesn't in our case. Perhaps it is simply the fact here in Ontario anyway that there are not enough Dr's which means they are burnt out and just hanging on to try and be there for the regular everyday problems folks deal with.
A sjogren's clinic sounds good, however i was diagnosed in a clinic setting at the Toronto general by Dr Arthur Bookman and collegues. Dr Bookman diagnosed me but that's where it ended, i try not use the word care and Bookman in the same sentence.
Found an interesting site the other day while looking fro another gp.....click Ontario and them Bookman.....I didn'ty even have to post as my opinions were already there......unfortunately my gp didn't look much better. At least I know that it's not just me now! www.ratemds.com

It seems that ignorance doesn't stop at the U.S border.  Thanks for asking about my health, Tuesday is the big day.  It sounds like they will be taking a look at my kidneys while they are removing the tumor.  Let's hope they don't find anything.

I know that I've been told it was all in my head by a few doctors, they're both history...I try not to deal much with the garbage anymore.

Hi Epson, hang in there and I'll keep the digits crossed!  Oh, I too use the www.ratemds.com, it's a great site and I've learned a thing or two about some of the doctors that I see and have seen.

Hi Janna, I've been there too once many years ago, and I told him to f... himself and walked out (I refused to let him see me cry) - I was etiquette challenged that day for sure!   I'm glad that you've finally been correctly diagnosed, and that you found us!!!!
