Finally getting somewhere with my bladder, darn thing  :P. 10 UTI's since Oct last year. Had a scope of my bladder today, no cancer, thank the Lord as I am so tired of cancer. But the urologist did say my bladder is very inflamed, which he said is par for the coarse with lupus, sjogren's etc. But he is not so sure why the infections???He gave me a low dose antibiotic that I can handle (I hope) and will have to take it for 3 months, and then I have to have my kidney checked out still. He mentioned perhaps kidney stones? I had a CAT scan a bit ago i would have thought if there were stones they would have showed up on it better than an ultrasound, but who knows, I'm not a doctor. So I just have to hurt I guess, but that's something I am used to and deal pretty well with. Pain has never stopped me from being hopeful for better days ahead. Take care everybody, Sandra

So glad for you that it was good news regarding no cancer, can't imagine how relieved you are.  Just hope the antibiotics do the trick now and you get some relief.

Hi Sandra  :)

I'm glad that tests didn't show the big C. Hopefully the antibiotics will clear up any infections. Had he any suggestions for calming the inflammation down though?

Take care - Scottie  :)

Yeehaw second bit of good news for the day (just read your other post) im glad theres none of the big C. Iflammed bladder huh? tricky. Just remember with the antibiotics that you need to get the probiotics happening. Last thing you want is a yeast infection.

I've just started my second month of 3 months on antibiotics for shronic sinus infection. We can be antibiotic allies :D :D :D

Goodluck with it

you know he's a great doctor but boy they sure put you through fast  :o now i would have liked to ask a few questions, like can chronic inflamation actually be causeing all these bladder infections?
Also i had a full CAT scan ordered by my rhuemy so I had them send him the results, did he see the report???? I would have thought that any kidney issue would have shown up in it better than the Ultrasound he wants to do. His nurse/receptionist thouhgt that too so she's waiting to talk to him tomorrow as he is in his office, so I'll find out tomorrow or Monday maybe.
Oh boy " as the sjogren's turns" episode a-zillion and one! Sandra

sandra, I am glad that your doc is at least trying to find the cause of this. Yes, the infections can cause a chronic inflammation of the lining of your bladder. It may be that you have never gotten rid of the 1st infection because the antibiotics aren't hitting it. Also, kidney stones don't always show up on Cat scan, MRI etc and sometimes they can't even be found on ultra sound. No test is perfect.

It could be that you are having an autoimmune reaction in your bladder lining that then sets you bladder up for infections. I don't know if they have a specific bladder instillation that can be used for this or not. Bladder instillations are instilled via a catheter and one usually has to hold it for awhile so that it can coat the lining of the bladder.

Ask him if they still do Arygerol (can't spell it tonight) or silver nitrate for bladder infections. I have had this done about 3 different series of 5 days each for trigonitis. This is an infection of the trigone area of the bladder. This is the area that gives one the signal to empty ones bladder. This triangular area of tissue that starts just at the top of the urethra and goes into the bladder gets infected and actually will have almost scab like areas on it. It is so painful and really hard to treat. The urine usually doesn't show positive for bacteria though as it is localized. Good luck and keep us posted. Irish ;D
