This is what was on the handout that Ruth Fremes provided at the Sjogren's Patient Conference in Toronto in April this year.  She has a book coming out in October 2009 according to the recipes she provided.  It will be called Recipes To Boost Your Immune System.  I had not even noticed that because I am a hoarder of information sometimes, rather than a user of it and would not have typed this out except that Danzgirl asked for the tips I mentioned in an old post.  So here you are

Select High-fibre carbs with low glycemic index, including vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes and nuts
Lean protein at every meal
Eat aproximately 1 handful of nuts daily (closed fist)consumed with vegetables, grains, berries or other fruits
Eat salad daily consisting of leafy greens with a dressing of vinegar and virgin olive oil
Avoid highly processed foods and beverages , particularly those containing sugar, high fructose corn syrup, white flour or trans fats.
Limit portion sizes to modest quantities
Maintain normal weight.  Waist circumference should be one half of height in inches.
Perform physical activity for at least 30 minutes or more daily, of at least moderate intensity.
If no history of substance abuse, consuming 1 alcoholic beverage before or with an evening meal may be considered.

This is almost identical to the list my Gastro gave me after my colonoscopy.  I'll keep an eye out for her book.  Her book "A Body Out Of Balance" is like a guide to living with this disease.  I'm looking forward to this new one.

Thanks for listing this information.

But isn't our problem that our immune system is already on high gear so wouldn't we want to lower our immune system not raise it.   My rhumy has me on Cellcept and the point of that is to lower your immune system.  Cellcept is the same thing they give people with organ .......brain fog............Transplants....thats the word.

People, Articles, Nutrionists use the terms "boosting the immune system" a lot ive noticed...and for us revving up the immune system is not a good idea...however I think in this instance and others "boosting" is not really what the author meant..rather the diet is giving the immune system the best chance to working normally..the foods are standard good foods..

However a comment on any diet..no one shoe fits all..people are reactive to certain foods even percieved good foods...so its up to the individual to perhaps use the diet as a template substituting the foods which they know are reactive to them for others.
