Hi Tracy

Another gifted writer amongst our 'family'. That's wonderful. What kind of writing do you like best? Are you like our Lauren (Wordnerd), who has three different books on the go at the same time?

Tracy, Glad to hear that you are feeling better. It would be great therapy for you to write again. Also, you might even be able to make a few bucks to spend on your health care. HeHe!!!!!

The pain treatment in ER is most likely a very hot topic. I would think it would be in the hospital and patients best interest to have a list of doctors on staff who have patients with chronic pain. This list should include the name of the patient, cause of pain and the treatment of their pain at the current time. This way they would know it is not some druggie trying to get a fix. It is too common sense a fix for anything to come of it! ;) Take care. Irish ;D

Hi Tracy

Its good that you are doing better, perhaps writing will be a good stress outlet for you.

My Mom and ex-husband keep telling me that I should write a book.  I don't think I'm that energetic, maybe I'll start out with the small stuff!

Thanks to all! once again.

I may have spoken too soon about the pain, it's been up and down, going from barely nothing to overwhelming in a matter of hours.

BUT, I see the pain doctor next week and I think it may be time to get referred to a neurosurgeon.  I do NOT want another surgery (this would be to add L3 to my fusion to the 2 levels above) however, if that's what it takes, I'll grit my teeth and do it.  Not for the pain - I've yet to have any surgery other than my fusion and morphine pump make a difference in the pain - but I'm getting neurological signs, including a bit of bladder trouble, so the choice may be taken out of my hands.

IRISH- first, I'm SOOOOO glad you aren't leaving us (just read the post above), and you've hit the nail right on the head.  My pain doctor has spoken 3 times to the main ER in the area about how the morphine pumps work and that if a patient of his comes in with pain, they can be taken at their word as he screens out drug seekers.  He has an open policy where, if you go to the ER with pain, the ER doctor is welcome to call him ANY time of the day or night.

But they don't listen.  I went to the ER one night with a migraine that I just couldn't get under control.  I took my list of meds, which includes my morphine pump, so the doctor comes in and say, "Gee, I guess your morphine pump isn't working."  I ask him what he was talking about, and he replied that if the pump was working, then I wouldn't have the pain of a migraine.

My morphine pump only covers the pain that's taking place inside my fusion, where some type of unknown damage was done after a car accident in 2003.  When I asked my pain doc about this, he said that the ER doctor I saw was one of the many he's talked to that just doesn't want to listen.

I have way too many bad ER stories to tell, but I won't bore you.  Once story is written, I'll send you a copy.

Anyway, thanks again for all the support I get from this list.  The last 2 years have really been hard and I don't have anyone who really wants to hear about it at home or among the few friends I still have.  It's nice to have a place to go where people understand.

Just a note, tonight's been hard because it's been a week since Brutus died, but again, there's no one here to talk to, so I hope you don't mind my sharing it with you.  I really miss him.

Talk to you later, Tracy

Hi Tracy  :)

Talk about Brutus all you want in here. It's honestly like losing a family member. The pain eases off in time and the happy memories take over - but it takes a while. Considerably more than a week for sure!
