My volunteerism (is that a word?)

I want to write about this since I'm still remembering it with a grin.  I'm volunteering one afternoon a week at an Aviation Museum.  I don't do much but say hi to people and show them around a little.  Today was my second day and I was left "alone" as most of the other volunteers were busy.  The museum was busy when I went in at 1 p.m.  About 2 p.m. I see people streaming in down the hallway.  It's a blind corner and you can't see beyond the curve in the hallway. 

I started greeting people, asnwering questions as best I could and people kept coming, and coming.  Then more people, usually with children.  I later found out talking with one visitor there was a bus tour stop and this was all the people who kept "coming."  Most were seniors, and I visited with a few for quite awhile.  What a great time I had.  (I'm a senior too, but not as senior as most of the folks.)   I found myself enjoying the kids coming in through the museum and admiring babies. 
I'm not really crazy about kids and am one of the few to admit it.   They are great in this setting and enjoying every minute of it. 

I even volunteered "extra" for tomorrow as they are having an event close to me.  We'll see how good I am at putting crafts together for children.  Bah humbug.     It's supposed to rain, but will go anyway.  I think I'm gonna like this little "job."  It was great to get my mind off myself and my aches and dry stuff.  Lucy, the aviation museum volunteer

Fantastic Lucy, so glad you are enjoying it.  My hubby would like a job like that.  He loves planes and since he retired but can no longer fly due to bad health.  He still loves those airplanes. 

I hope you keep having lots of fun and meeting new and exciting people.
