This is a very embarrassing topic.. but I can bring up on this board without blushing cause you can't see me.. It's for the women out there... do any of you have vagaina pain?  I always feel like I have a UTI or yeast infection.. yet every time I'm checked I'm fine. but my vajayjay (Grey Anatomy word here) hurts and burns.. is this from the Sjogerns causing it be dry?  I'm in pain and don't know what's going on 'down there'...

any help advice for this uncomfortable topic?????   ::)

Hi Mcdreamyfan  :)

SjS has probably caused you to be way too dry 'down there' and its a common problem. You've obviously had it checked out from what you say because you know you don't have a UTI or yeast infection. Have you told your doctor just how uncomfortable you are though? Like say to him/her "OK. It's great to know what is NOT causing the burning - but it's still burning. It really hurts. What do you advise?"
Maybe you need to see a gynaecologist or urologist. Have you tried inserting a bit of lubricant like KY Jelly? There are some oestrogen creams too that my be useful.
I really think its worth checking out, embarrassing as it is. You're not alone!

Take care - Scottie  :)

Hi Mc

You are definitely not alone >:( I have been very dry down there for quite a few years, even before I became menopausal. As Scottie says, the KY and a gel called Replens can help. I also use the vaginal oestrogen - it helps a lot.

vajayjay, This conversation has been had before on this site. It is not unusual for us women, believe me. I think that the dryness has been with me much of my adult life. In the past years I would be like you and I used the OTC Mycostatin cream. The one that is in the tube with the applicator and sells for about 6 bucks at Walmart. I think it is called Micanozole 7.

I have found that this helps as it has a cream base and isn't as messy as the water based products. I usually do it at night so it has a chance to soak into the mucus tissues and of course the "pad" is a necessity also. If any guy read this you are doing so at your own risk. ::)

Also, have you gone to the gynecologist and had your estrogen level checked? Sometimes women will have low estrogen and need to use the estrogen vaginal creams that the doc will order for you. Good luck. Irish ;D

Hi mcdreamyfan!

I just went through this and it drove me absolutely crazy!! I did go to the gyne and she told me I have atrophic vaginitis. She said this is very common in women during and after menopause (due to the decrease or lack of estrogen). This is where there is inflammation of the vagina (and the outer urinary tract) due to the thinning of the tissues and decreased lubrication. She suggested an OTC lubricant for now or if needed an estrogen cream later.

BUT....the real cause of my problem was that I did have several UTI's last year between June and October and then it felt like I was getting another infection off and on for months but when they tested my urine it didn't show up as a full blown infection..there was a "trace" of the infection but not enough to treat a "normal" person. But since us sjoggies need extra help I finally got my urologist to put me on a low dose antibiotic for 6 months and NO MORE SYMPTOMS after less than a month on the medicine!! ;D

So for me it was that there was an underlying UTI infection that my body just couldn't fight off completely! It wasn't a full blown infection just one that was lying quietly in the background and coming back just enough to show short term symptoms and drive me crazy! Then my body would fight it off and then it would come back...this went on for months like this!

This is just my story......I hope you find the answer to yours because it definitely can a pain! (literally  ;))
