Hi  :)

I spent the weekend with a UTI feeling miserable. Phoned the GP on Monday morning - a bit later than I meant to. I thought I probably wouldn't get an appointment because the news here is full of people not being able to see their GPs. However - I got a same day appointment at 10:30 a.m. Now on a 3 day course of antibiotics called Nitrofurantoin. Thankfully - only 3 days worth as some potential side affects look horrific! Luckily I don't seem to be having any. They haven't cleared it quite yet though.

Problem started after a new BP med prescription. GP says that's totally unrelated unless I'm really weird. Now on Candesartan and Lercanidipine and BP still up a bit. Doubtless all meds mentioned are called something different in the US.

Got a call from the local hospital surgery Dept. today basically discharging me belatedly. A few months ago they removed a lipoma - or apparently partially removed it. It was an odd shape. They wanted to know if I wanted another op to remove the rest. I don't. Am no longer aware of any lump so I will leave well alone. They arranged a scan to see if they could see what was going on and thankfully it looked pretty clear apart from some renal cysts which apparently are not of concern.

Anyone know anything about renal cysts? I'd never heard of them before.

Take care - Scottie  :)

Scottie,

My husband has had multiple CT scans as he is battling cancer.  He has a couple of benign renal cysts that show up on all his CT's.  The doctors aren't concerned about them at all. It's more like they mention them but no treatment and no concern shown about them.

I think they may be more common than we think.  I hope this helps.

Hi  :)

So sorry to hear about your husband's cancer. I heard about someone else with some renal cysts recently. Her doctor said they'd monitor them - but she hasn't heard how or when. sounds benign from what I've read but occasionally they can interrupt urine flow making UTIs more likely.

I will ask the GP about them this week as the UTI has returned. Not as bad as before but showing up as infection on the dip sticks. Phoned today but was too late. Will phone earlier tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply
