Hi, havent posted in a while. 41 yr old female with sjogrens *closest thing they could label it as* for 17 years. I had a child via ivf who is 3 with an uncomplicated pregnancy. I got pregnant naturally, nice surprise, and currently 20 weeks. Pregnancy is going well but on every urine draw I have trace wbc and rbc.
OB is not concerned but I am getting concerned. Back in 2014 or so I was evaluated by a urologist for wbc/rbc in urine. They weren't sure about IC and eventually it just went away. My creatine levels are normal and no protein. Would you saw if it doesnt resolve post pregnancy this a urologist or nephrologist issue?

Hi.
I have sjogrens since dx 2010, also have RA. I always test for RBC when I give urine sample...they use to make me have ultrasounds and cystoscopies to prove no cancers or IC. The tests were always negative. I think it's sjogrens related for me. My GP and Gyno now never make any deal over RBC in my urine..it's normal for me. Maybe yours will just go away after your pregnacy...by the way, congratulations.

This is of great interest to me.

I walked five hours on a vacation type thing on a Friday. Had terrible leg pain. Took motrin and used a heating pad.
Saturday morning had clear cut blood in my urine.

Monday morning took urine  test...no blood.

Blood test...red blood count elevated. Platelets lower than usual.

Huh?

Gp not concerned in the least.

Have had issues with dark urine on and off for seven months. But that was the only time it was RED.

The blood bothered me. Still does.
SLE, Sj.  Syndrome, IC, Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia, ITP (low platelets)... Various meds and lots of vitamins. Trying to eat healthy; seems to help a little.

Hi Nomad.

Only know of 1 thing.
Marathon runners have blood in urine.
I always have microscopic blood in my urine and no doctors care

nomad, Walking for 5 hours could possibly cause some RBC in your urine especially if you are prone to lower platelets. Did they give your an IC diagnosis for your bladder as the bladder can get so red and literally sore that it could shed some RBCs.

Also dark urine doesn't always mean blood. Sometimes our urine gets very dark when we are dehydrated. Try uping your water and fluid intake sometime when you have dark urine and see it it helps the urine to get lighter. So many of us are dehydrated much of the time. We just don't drink as much as we should. EVen if you are sweating a lot our skin has moisture that evaporates plus we exhale moisture from our luings with every breath so we are losing moisture from our body even when we sleep.

I always used to be able to drink about 3 qts a day and now that I am old I have to almost force myself to drink at times. Guess that is why they always remind the older generation to keep the fluid intake  up. TAke care and hope things go well for you.
