Hi,

I have been fighting low ferritin for a couple of years now. I am taking "blood builder" which doesn't bother my tummy (most iron does) but I haven't improved much. Lately I have been bruising very easily and wounds heal slowly and I am wondering if the low iron stores are a cuprit? I have had chronically low MVP for awhile and I wonder if that could cause the bruising? The MVP is not terribly low, always just below the normal line on blood work (platelets are on the high side of normal). I am not due to see my doctor for awhile and thought I would ask here as many are knowledgeable. Hope everyone's friday is going well.

I suffer from long term low ferritin levels and hgb and did the iron pills til they didn't work any more and now get IV iron infusions a couple of times a year. Are you taking iron builder meds from over the counter??? If you are curious about this and concerned you should see your doctor to see if things are changing with your ferritin level. I don't know that low ferritin level causes bruising but I know issues with blood counts can and also some other meds we are prescribed can also. It might be something else entirely that needs a doctors attention. Good luck. meirish
