A note about the weather in Mid Northwest Minnesota. After a summer of heat and more heat and some rain this fall, we have finally transitioned into Fall. The trees are turning so much earlier than last fall and the temps have been wonderful. Cool at night with some 40s' and 50's and 70's most days. The wind can still be a problem at times but less than earlier this summer.

It is going so fast and I am afraid that it will snow early. I don't know that we have had a frost where I live yet...in town at least. Down in southern Minnesota where I moved from they did have frost. We used to be able to depend on frost around the middle of September but the seasons around the country have really changed.

So sorry for any of you folks in the hurricanes in Florida and other states. Just unreal how strong the wind....and the amount of water in those surges takes a persons breath away. My sympathy for the losses you have experienced from this weather.... loss of loved ones or loss of property. How devastating. Never understand this unless we experience it. Take care all and God Bless. meirish

Here in the Pacific Northwest it's been beautiful and I love it!  But in reality we are having a drought and really need rain.  I wouldn't mind rain right now.  I want to harvest some Chantrelle mushrooms and they need rain to produce.  We had an awful spring this year, so I feel we deserve the niceness of this weather, but the lack of rain is a bummer.  I hope everyone else is enjoying life.

Saturday and Sunday were unusually warm here with highs in the 1970's. We sometimes get days like this. What was unusual for me was this was the first time in many years that I have felt "sticky". I am hoping my sweat glands are coming back and that this is a positive sign.

Did you notice all the bad storm warnings for a lot of the country? Man, everyone around here was thinking we could even get some snow. There was rain but not much at all. WE seem to always be on the edge of these weather systems. Me thinks Minnesota is going to get dumped on with snow this winter.. Haven't had a bad winter for a while so we are due. Take care all. meirish

Windy, but a lot of the really gorgeous leaves are still hanging on around here.

OK folks...the calendar still says fall but the weather man doesn't know that. It has cooled down and this evening it is 14 degrees and cold. We have had a few days like this and the snow came and is still here. Also, there has been a lot of wind with this cold spell and it is very much winter.

I have been told that it is to warm up but I will believe it when I see it. Once it gets cold like this it may warm up but usually doesn't get as warm as it was prior to the cold snap. But this is Minnesota and it is coming up on Christmas.

I know that a lot of states have had unusually cold weather with a lot of snow. Would like to hear from you. North Dakota got hit with a darn cold storm last week as did my son and other family when they came from out West hunting. Stay warm and Happy Thanksgiving everyone. meirish

Wow, we had our first real snow fall in a long time. Last winter was a failure snow and moisture wise. We would have an inch or so and then wait a few weeks and another inch. Just so dry for winter and all summer was bad also.

WE just had about 4 to 8 inches in about 1/2 the state and in surrounding states. WE didn't get the bad wind that some people did.Feels a little like the humidity is up some so that means the moisture is more meaningful. I am hoping for more and for snow at Christmas. Unfortunately the twin cities had a lot of car accidents this morning. About 125 accidents in 4 hours on the freeways. It was slippery and that isn't good. We all have to relearn how to drive every winter. Hoping that the dry areas around the country are getting moisture in either rain or snow. Good luck all. meirish
