Progressive Lenses Making My Eyes Hurt Worse

I just got a pair of new progressive lenses (against my wishes) that my optometrist insisted I needed. I know they take a while to adjust to, so I have given them a fair run of a couple of weeks wearing them full-time. I am noticing that my eyes are hurting worse than ever and seem to be even drier wearing them. Has anyone else had this experience? I really don't use the reading part on the bottom as I can read fine with no glasses. I told them I would prefer just distance glasses, but they said my insurance would pay for progressives, which is why I think they wanted me to get them. Also, I have trouble parking the car in the garage, etc., as I cannot see out of the sides of them! I have 60 days to get them changed into single vision and am really struggling with this. I would be fine with them if they were not making my eyes hurt worse!

Hi janny! I am pretty sure you are really upset since you did not want them. But I wonder about your mentioning you cannot see out of the sides.....did they tell you that you do not move your eyes, but you follow your nose. One does not look through the sides, but you just turn your head. If they are done correctly, the up and down movement of the head works with the distance. In other words, as my hubby told me to do since he learned from his, you put the glasses on and turn your head (nose) up down or right or left. Point your nose to where you want to see, if that makes sense. Please give that a try. I am interested if it works for you or helps some.
