What do you do for swollen lymph nodes?

I looked back thru past posts and see where many here suffer with painful or swollen lymph nodes. I've never had it happen before. But last night it started: mild discomfort on the right side under my chin. By morning it was all around my neck. No visible swelling but i can feel the lumps when pressing with my fingers and it's difficult to swallow. They are very painful but a hearing pad and tylenol help. A Google search says it could be a virus but I don't have a fever. So I'm guessing it's just a new type of flare for me?

For those who deal with this: how's long does it last? Is there anything else I can do for the pain or make it go away quicker?

Thanks!

Hi dee, I get those at times but usually they drain quite soon. The heat..plenty of fluids and gentle massage. Do this eery couple of hours as you see fit. This should loosen things up some. Sometimes it is just thick mucus plugs and sometimes a little stone can get in there and plug things enough to cause infection. I would keep it in the back of your mind that if it doesn't show any improvement or relief that you will probably have to see the doctor as antibiotics can be needed.

I had the most problem years ago in both my parotid glands. They didn't swell so badly but I developed bad pain and spasms that would come and go and it was relentless pain. I thought I would die but ust have passed small stones towards morning. I know I drank hot tea and paced the floor. Darn Sjogrens can just keep us on our toes and to often it cost money!!!

Let us know how you come out on this..Take care now. meirish

meirish: thanks so much! You always give good, calming advice. When the whole thing flared up I feared I had covid! Trying to figure out the difference between lymph nodes and saliva glands has been a learning experience. Never realized how connected they were. I will follow your advice and hope it passes over the weekend. Next week will be supper busy at the shop. Thanks again!
