How many of you are on safe at home requests? Is inactivity a problem?

Spring

Liz D.

I live in Massachusetts and have a stay at home order until May 4 as of right now.  The order was supposed to end today but they extended it another 30+ days.

I personally am not having any problems with it.  The inactivity doesn't bother me as I'm not much of a ball of energy anyway.  But my heart sure aches for those who are.  I have a sister who is on the go continually and is having a real hard time.  She's being obedient to the order but her anxiety is pretty high and sometimes she feels claustrophobic.  It really is a new learning experience for all of us.

Everyone stay safe!

It's handled a bit differently here, everyone is requested to maintain social or physical distancing, called shelter in place or stay at home.

Anyone meeting certain criteria is required to self isolate. That includes those who have traveled outside the province, has symptoms, has been tested pending results or has tested positive, or been in contact with anyone who meets those requirements. Many healthcare workers and essential services are self isolating voluntarily to prevent taking anything home from "hot spots".

Self isolating involves staying in your own home, or within the confines of your own property; having someone make non-contact deliveries of necessities to your door; daily tele-monitoring, recording temperature twice a day, and reviewing possible symptoms; Law enforcement if necessary (they have cleared out several local beaches and hiking trails when there were many cars in the parking lots, and the beaches, parks and trails are now closed).

Social/physical distancing involves staying at home whenever possible, but designating one person to run errands (me for our extended family and a few neighbours), on as limited a basis as possible; walking outside within your neighbourhood, alone or in small family groups from single households; no "distanced" parties where some feel you can get together with neighbours if you stay 2 M apart, unless you are in a single household. Basically, unless you live with someone, or you are the designated runner, you don't get together!

Stores, most of which are closed or offering curbside or home delivery, are limiting number of people inside, directing traffic to one way aisles and marked 2 M spacing in line ups, plexiglass screens in front of cashiers, and sanitizing wipes between each customer for 20 second contact on keypads, counters, plexiglass and any other contact surfaces. They no longer accept reusable shopping bags or refillable containers for bulk, and most strictly bulk stores are closed or extremely supervised. Shopping is no longer a quick outing, but everyone has been adaptable to the new "one person one cart", no browsing, in and out shopping.

If I were under restriction, I doubt inactivity would be a problem, I'd probably enjoy it for the first 2 weeks! I feel like I haven't stopped since this all started, between family business things that have come up unrelated to COVID, organizing some of my volunteer projects to allow online participation, helping my daughter home school at a distance, and adding another volunteer agency that needed phone support. Silly me, at first, I thought, "Great! I'll get to some of those craft projects I've been wanting to do!" Hasn't happened yet!

I am in central eastern Florida. My county has only 38 cases of the virus so far. I just turned 65 and have pretty much stayed home. My only exception was this weekend I got to meet my first great grandbaby. She is adorable!  I have beome a resin artist in the last year, so I am home most of the time anyways, creating art. Most of it is coastal related. (You can check me out on Instagram and Facebook under Jenny?s Coastal Art.) My husband, however, is going nuts! He used to go to the gym several times a week and hang out at Home Depot. I try to take a half hour walk with him a few times a week, but I pay for it with terrible back pain the rest of the day. Stay healthy and sane all!

Trying to stay at home. Watching a lot of TV, Facebook, emails. My daughter and her family came over for two afternoons to construct an arbor/gate for our back yard. My wife ventures out for food and supplies about every 2 weeks.

Before this all started, we invited a friend to stay with us while starting a new job. He came on Friday to start on Monday.  The state was closed down. His new job was cancelled.  His stress levels have been very high. He is currently waiting to hear on another job that is considered necessary.

Jan and I are taking 5 grams of Vitamin C per day. Wuhan has reported that it is a good preventative and helps people recover.

A chemist friend suggests adding zinc to my mix as it interrupts protein folding of the virus during reproduction.

Uvc and ionized air are said to reduce its spread on surfaces and in air.

Well I?m missing babysitting my grandkids.  Out of an abundance of caution our kids won?t let us babysit for fear our grandkids could make us sick😔. I guess they are right but I will be glad when this is all over!

My husband and I have been binge watching TV and doing a lot of FaceTiming with our kids and grandkids and thank God for that.  My husband has stage 4 metastatic cancer and we are both well over 60 so we are both considered high risk.  It is funny cause I?m more worried about my kids and grandkids than I am myself.

I am trying to only go for groceries no more than twice per month.  I have been doing well with that.  I feel like my asthma has kicked up and that I might be starting a flare.  Governor Pritzker from Illinois was really good from the beginning with stay at home instructions.

I guess we are all trying not to worry but it is hard because the world seems to be falling apart.  Stay well and stay safe fellow sufferers.

Hi  :)

I'm not finding staying home a problem. I think I stay home a lot anyway. I'm making a scrap book for my daughter. (She doesn't know about it)

10 years ago this June she embarked on the biggest adventure of her life. She was one of four women to row around Britain non stop and they got a Guinness World Record for it that still stands.

so - I'm printing out photos and bits from the log/blog that was written up as they were on their travels. It was a terrible summer. Wind and tides did not go their way. Instead of taking about 35 days, which is what they'd counted on, they were actually 51 days at sea.

It's keeping me busy.

Take care - stay safe all.  Scottie  :)

In LA, we got stay at home orders weeks ago. I'll be starting my 4th week. At first, I would don my mask and gloves to go to the drugstore, etc. Then, I had my rheumatologist appointment via phone. My doctor put me on lockdown. The only place I can go is for a neighborhood walk, with a mask and if someone is on my side of the street, I'm to cross to the other side. If my son or husband go somewhere and come back home, they need to change clothes or preferably shower before coming around me.

There's lots of things to do around the house but I swear I feel lazier. Or, I'll do one main project a day. I'm tired of being home already.
