Both arms numb at sleep

Hello

Since last 1 week i wake up at night with both arms numb (from shoulder to fingers).

No numbness during day time.

Any idea what can cause this?

This may be related to the way you sleep, the pressure on your neck, etc.

I suggest you talk with the doctor you rely upon most.  Perhaps you need some neurological testing to identify what is going on.

PS  I have this occasionally, but it isn't my entire arm, just lower arms and hands.

I've had lots of tests, but the last was in 2013, so perhaps it is time for another test.   I will discuss this with my orthopedist if I decide to have more testing related to problems with my cervical spine (neck).

These symptoms are often seen in carpal tunnel. People with autoimmune diseases and especially Sjogrens are very prone to tendonitis all over the body and especially the carpal tunnel and the ulner nerve compression and inflammation.

I just had my 2ns left wrist carpal tunnel surgery and this time also the ulnar nerve. I have had right done once and will have that done the end of the summer. My orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hands, wrists and shoulders said the sjogrens influences the carpal tunnel a lot and the ulnar. I asked if at age 75 I would have to have a 3rd surgery on each wrist and he said he hoped not.

I would advise you getting this checked out. Sometimes the only way to tell is to have the EMG testing o the wrists. My testing has been positive whenever they do it. The first time around I had a lot of arm pain during the night and not much else. This time I had shoulder pain but the hand pain and wrist pain was excruciating at times. Good luck. Irish
