New knee braces, to go with my leg braces

So dearest Sjogren's Angels,

Yesterday I got fancy knee braces (I mean very fancy! $1500 worth, covered by my insurance, thank goodness).

As you may recall, I have profound PN, and wear AFO braces (from my knees down).  Both knees are also severely damaged from plain old Osteoarthritis.  My right knee moves inward (valgus) and the left knee hurts.  Both knees should probably be replaced, but since I fired my orthopedist recently, I'm in the process of finding a new one, and knee replacement is a far off consideration.

The brace on my right knee actually keeps my right knee from moving inward, and the one on the left is just very strong support.  I find it easier to stand up and sit down, with these braces.  I haven't tried climbing stairs yet, so I hope that is also improved.

I am an advertisement for Velcro since all of my braces are attached with many velcro straps.  I just learned to clean velcro with the one of the tools used to groom our Maine Coon cat.   8)   Velcro that is full of 'stuff' doesn't stick very well.

So I am more and more a kind of Bionic Woman.

Hugs, Elaine

Wow, a bionic woman, cool  8)

Velcro stays "cleaner", especially in hairy households, if you're very careful when opening it, but also always attach the velcro sides to each other, even when you're not wearing the braces.
