I'm wondering if any of the women here have had issues with Sjogren's and Mastitis? I've had it after I stopped breastfeeding years ago, but it seems to have made a reoccurrence. Is this something I'll need to be on the lookout for?  TIA!

I had trouble when I quit nursing my second son back  in another life time. About six years later I was changing my third sons diaper and he kicked me with his hard soled high top shoes. He accidently got me in the breast and within a couple days I had a fever and a very sore breast. Off to the doctor I went and I sure got some strange reactions from my doctor. He had never seen this type of thing before but he gave me an antibiotic and I got better.

The breasts are a secreting organ and Sjogrens affects secreting organs, ie., salivary glands, sweat glands, thyroid, pancreas, the mucus secreting glands of the gastrointestinal system. I think this happens with breast tissue in Sjoggies but not often as not much mentioned on this site. I know that I had a lot of swelling and pain off and on over the years with that one breast but it decreased as I got older. I am suspicious of hormones being involved in this also. Hormones fluctuate so much that hard to monitor even in ourselves. Gooo luck. Irish

Thanks! I had it after I breastfed my kiddo, but this is the first time in 14 years. I'm not sore, but I think that's because I have "ponderous breast tissue" They're huge. I have issues with the Montgomery glands, but this was rather alarming. I'll talk to the doctor when I see him on Monday.
