cortisol problem?

My doctor is going to run a cortisol test on me.  I seem to be gaining weight but not eating much.  I lost my thyroid in 2007 and I also had a hysterectomy within two months.

The TSH has always stayed the same.  It is generally the first test a doctor runs on me as I am always cold and tired.  I did read stress could cause trouble and I have been under constant stress for quite a while.

Anyone familiar with a cortisol problem and what they do about it?

Thanks and I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas
