Hi! Just writing for some support as I am feeling on the low side. I was married in May and went on honeymoon a month later. Suppossed to be on top of the world but physically my sjogrens/lupus/undetermined as been quite bad. I stopped birth control so that may be a contributing factor. I've been extremely fatigued but my worst symptom is new and has me quite alarmed . I have been experiencing nearly constant vertigo and heavy headaches. Sometimes it feels like I'm being weighed down by my head and my legs feel like I'm walking in quick sand. Also other times it's as if im,moving while still and not exactly spinning but feel as my mind and surroundings are not in sync. I have hearing loss since 2010 but never felt off balance till now. Its quite scary and my rheumie can't tell me if it is lupus or other. Basically told me to see if plaquenil works which will be in about 2 months. Meanwhile my quality of life has gone downhill as I prefer right now to stay home lying down as I don't feel steady outside. Anyone gone through something similar? My husband and friends say I should see neurologist , I'm torn, so tired of doctors. Thx in advance.

See a neurologist as soon as you can. This could be a very serious neurological event from autoimmune. There is always the chance that it is not autoimmune also. But, the symptoms are serious and could be life threatening if they kick in when driving or even walking. Serious falls are always a possibility.

Do not put this off. Call and talk to a nurse at the neurologists office and fill her in on your symptoms so that she can get you in ASAP. Also, an emergency referral from your doctor could help. This could even be a slow leak of a blood vessel in your brain. Not to scare you but this is serious. Good luck and keep us updated. Irish

Irish is right. Please see a neurologist as they can probably get to the bottom of this quickly so you can get relief. I know how you feel about being so tired of doctors. Between the doctors and all the meds I feel like a big science experiment.

I just wanted to lend support.  I agree with the other comments....a neurology appointment should be scheduled as soon as you can.  I just had to go to a neurology appointment myself today, after not needing neurological input for the last 3 years.  I, too, am trying to not add any more meds, and feel like all I do is go to doctors.  But I've been having involuntary closing of one eye at a time and numbness alongside of the outer corner of one eye.  It was a new neurologist and I was anxious about it, but I knew I had to go and I'm glad I did.  Plus the secretary was so kind and even the people in the waiting room were very friendly and talking to me.  It is easy to want to just hide at home and not deal with a lot of stuff we have to deal with (I'm guilty of it!), but it really is the best thing for our health that we get out and deal with these things.  We deserve to be well taken care of and sometimes we have to push ourselves to make that happen.  I'm sending you a cyber hug.  I'm so sorry you're dealing with this not long after your wedding.  Try to think positive, and look forward to what the doc could offer to make you feel a whole lot better.  Let us know how you make out, because people on here really do care.
