Double Vision

I wanted to run this by the group and see if anyone has experienced anything similar.  I have Sjogrens and chronic migraine.  Because of Sjogrens I have been dealing with dry eye for years.  I had cataract surgery 7 years ago which exacerbated that situation, but with the help of Restatis and punctal plugs my tear production and eye moisture is now on the lower end of the normal spectrum.

Last September I began experiencing double vision. It came on suddenly within a matter of minutes. When looking at print it is usually just a shadow of the letters slightly above the print, like a smeared postmark on an envelope.  When walking outside I sometimes see two street signs instead of one.  If I blink a few times the images will sometimes briefly correct themselves.  It seems to be getting worse over time.

My ophthalmologist seems quick to blame the double vision on my migraines but often if I cover one eye the double vision stops which my neurologist says is a clear sign that it is not a migraine symptom.  I understand that double vision can happen with dry eye, but mine aren?t that dry anymore.  And why would it come on so suddenly?  I had a normal MRI and a month before it started.

SS can affect the eye in many ways, including the dry eye syndrome. But more serious complications can occur such as scleritis and choroiditis (inflammation of the lining).
A more serious problem is optic neuritis, which can lead to blindness. Serious eye pain is common in the serious cases of SS.
In these cases Accuvail or steroid eye-drops are sometimes used.
Of course, if you take Plaquenil, you need to be tested twice a year for color blindness.
