Just plain upset about losing a doctor

I am just venting.  I am so upset.  I have been sick for a month now and I think it has turned into a UTI or bacterial vaginosis, etc.  Went to make an appointment with my nurse practitioner, Stephanie, and find out that she is leaving at the end of the month.  She was the one who bothered to figure out I had Sjogren's two years ago.  Now I have to start all over again with a new doctor.  All I want to do is cry.

I know you guys understand.  I just had to get it out.

This is always tough. I had a specialist die a about 10 years ago and it really impacted my life. It is great that you had this gal for 2 years and got such good care from her. Hopefully you will be able to find another good doctor. Good luck. Irish

Thanks, Deb.  Miss you guys on chat.  Unfortunately, there is no way for me to get a hold of her and get a recommendation from her.  I wish I could.  I have to choose from a bunch of practitioners and hope I choose a good one.  I see my first new one on Monday.  See how it goes.

Judie,
I also understand how it feels to lose a doctor you trust.  There are other good doctors out there! I hope your new practitioner turns out to be one of them.
Best wishes
Cheryl

Judie:
About a dozen years ago I learned to find "young" doctors.  What I didn't do at the time was realize I was going to move some day.  Which I did.  :)  Anyway, when I did move, I chose young doctors.  Even then some disappointed me as ...they wanted time to devote to their families!  Imagine that!!
We feel your pain.  Doctors or PAs don't realize how they become savior like to us...who have searched or wondered for decades what caused our discomforts.
Be patient...and keep your ear to the ground for referrals by other SjS sufferers.
Good luck..and have a good day.

Judie,

I'm sorry for your loss!  I dread the day when my Rheumatologist might retire.  I feel like he saved my life and he believed me when no one else did.

I feel for you.  Don't give up because your health is worth it!

I just got notification in the mail that I have been assigned a new primary care physician.  Cannot even pronounce her (?) name so I guess a phone call is in order.  Still seeing the one that the appointment clerk gave me on Monday.  It seems that my health insurance and being old is causing me to be limited in my opportunities.  LOL
