Yawning and moisture

Yawning (a "real" big yawn) can cause tearing and salivation for a few seconds.
I know it does for me, seemingly due to muscle contraction.
I wonder how this may be translated into a device that may help us stimulate more tears and saliva...?

This is an interesting issue. Usually at night, if I wake up and I sense that my eyes are dry, I try to yawn. I need three yawns in order to obtain a moisture on the eyes but it really works for me. I think that your idea is a very interesting one, perhaps a little device that could activate the yawning mechanism or something like that trying to obtain natural tears. I think it is something achievable.

felpeyu2- I also think it should be achievable. A device to either to stimulate the yawning or simply cause the muscle contraction that's achieved through the yawning.

bluegardenia- Yes, I recall the Saliwell device, but from what I understand it works in other ways on the nervous system, and only on saliva, and from speaking with others that have tried it sounds like it unfortunately does not work for most Sjogren's patients.
