Autoimmune disease and breast implants

hi ladies,
I am curious....I am reading a book by an Atlanta plastic surgeon,Dr Susan Kolb. It discusses the link between AI diseases and breast implants. My question is how many of us have them and what kind?


I have saline but in a silicon shell. I am considering an explant operation to remove this foreign object from my body. I am on a mission to find wellness or to stop the madness. ?
Have any of you had your implants removed and then felt like you medically stabilized or improved?

Yes...silicone..ruptured. .ruptured from the mammograms.. you know how they squish you..had symptoms before rupture...they were 30 years old...I had them removed and had a breast reduction done.. funny how when I was young I wanted larger breasts..but then when  I was older and saggy I wanted small breasts again

That's a no for me but I've heard the silicone is really bad.

from what i know now the breast implants are with saline solution no silicon

They still have silicone implants..I know someone who had them inserted last year...
No I don't notice any increase in symptoms...although did my hashimoto  get triggered from it..don't  know....are my super dry eyes worse now...yes...shirmers test in left eye now a 1 on right a 3...but this progression happens to those who don't have implants that leaked and ruptured

Any kind of implant is a foreign object that your body has to "fight." Sometimes the foreign object "wins."

I don't do well with any chemicals, so I am grateful I never went this route. It would have been a disaster for me personally.

The shell of the saline implants is made of silicone, just like the gel used to fill the same shells in the original silicone implants.It's just not fluid and able to migrate from the implanted site. As Jazzlover says, it's still a foreign object. Manufacturers continue to maintain that silicone is an inert substance, but why would people react to the gel or fluid form and not the solid?

Medical Grade Silicone is used for example for Facial reconstruction, sometimes due to congenital defects, others accidents, disease.
I have not looked for studies, if there are any of outcomes for this type of implant patient.

Breast implant.. saw some studies noting genetic connection?

There are implant materials that are not attacked for use in bones, joints,dental, stents,cardio,drug delivery, etc.,  and medical engineers seek better compatible, lasting and cost effective alternatives

There was another tidbit I just remembered.  When I went to the plastic surgeon who removed my ruptured implants..he said that silicone implants need to be changed out ever ten years...I don't ever remember the surgeon who put them in saying that...I was 20 years overdue....
