dentist or endodontist recommendation in NYC area with Sjogren's knowledge?

This is kind of a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone can recommend a dentist in the NYC area who has experience with Sjogren's.  Although my teeth are in generally good shape, I have one problematic tooth (an old botched root canal)* and have to decide whether to have the root canal redone or to have the tooth extracted (and possibly replaced with an implant).  It would be a somewhat tricky root canal retreatment, because the original was so poorly done, but my dentist referred me to a highly skilled endodontist who is confident it can be done.

However, in searching this forum for things relating to root canals and dental work generally, I see that the dry mouth and autoimmune issues can affect the success of this kind of procedure.  So, before I go have anything big done, I was hoping to be able to consult with someone with expertise in this area.  (Just to add to the complications, a doctor saw something in my bloodwork that suggested possible Lyme disease, so I'm getting tested for that now.  I understand Lyme can also complicate dental issues.)


* Years ago, I was persuaded to have 2 unnecessary root canals by a dentist (who later became kind of infamous for convincing patients to do unnecessary work).  Both my prior dentist and my current dentist, looking at the records, say that these root canals were almost certainly unnecessary -- as there had been no pain, my teeth and gums were in good shape, and the x-rays were normal.  There is now occasional pain and sensitivity in one of those teeth (in response to warm or cold food/drink).  However, even with x-rays and a dental CT scan, my dentist and endodontist see no obvious cause for the pain.  So I genuinely don't know if this is a weird Sjogren's thing, or an identifiable dental issue.

You might want to check with a SS support group near your area. Contact the facilitator for the group to see if she/he can recommend any endodontist in your area. I run a support group here in Pittsburgh and maintain a list of docs/dentists for patients who contact me for that reason.
