Lacrisert for eyes

Has anyone tried Lacrisert for dry eyes?
If so, has it helped you any?
It sounds promising....

I tried lacricert for a while. For me it did not work. You put it inside the outer most corner of your lower lid. It is supposed to absorb your tears and turn it into a nice lubricating film which last all day I believe. For me it absorbed the little amount of tears I had and would just sit there bloated and gunky causing the lower lid to be irritated and swollen. At the end of the day I would fish out the blob that had not reduced in size. I then tried contact lenses, blank ones not for eye sight correction, that were made with high volume of water, that were supposed to help moisturize the eyes. Can't remember the name. They are once daily disposables. I tried for two days. The first day I barely managed to get them out, the second day it took half a bottle of eye drops for each eye and 30 minutes of painful prying to get them off my dry eyeballs. Then I went to lower tear duct plugs and am much happier.
The lacricert are worth a try, I did hear good results about them, just did not work for me.

Thanks for sharing your experience Tharrell!
Perhaps I'll first try with one then before ordering a supply.
An eye doctor suggested I try plugs, but my tears are irritating
so I don't know if that would be a solution for me.

If you can get a sample pack, some eye doctors do, it would be great. That way you can try before you buy. Maybe the company website offers samples?

They don't carry it where I live and I doubt the company would be willing to ship me samples overseas.
I'll try to get a freind travelling to the US to pick a few up for me, just to give it a try.

The concept of Lacriserts is great but it is a greasy glob and isn't soothing to the eye.  This was my experience.  I have all four tear ducts plugged and this along with Restasis is a lifesaver.  I have very dry eyes.

I've been using Lacrisert for years; it's the only thing that really helps.  I apply inside my lower lid at 6:30 AM, and it takes a few hours for the pellet to dissolve enough to not need drops.  My doctor recently changed my prescription for twice a day use, so I apply again around 6:30 PM, so I have all day moisture.

It can be a challenge to insert the pellet, I have to put my glasses on to see how to pick it up with the applicator.  If you try them, spread a tissue on your bathroom counter in case you drop it when you pick it up.

I actually found it easier to insert them on my finger tip, kind of like how you would put in a contact lens, just in the outer corner. I had real difficulties if getting that little stick to come off that tool thingie.
