It's been an odd year

Hi  :)

Over the last 12 months I have been slowly recovering from a badly broken right arm. About a year ago the other arm decided to develop a frozen shoulder. I've had cortisone shots and physiotherapy and it thankfully is on the mend although heavy doors are a bit problematic as neither arm is now working particularly well.

This time last year the doctor discovered my Hashimoto's had swung 'hyper'. Actually - I feel better hyper - but the doc was insistent that I had to cut medication and decided that hot sweats I was suffering were obviously hyper related - as was some chest pain, that got checked out and I was cleared of there being a heart problem.

Well we cut the meds until I swung hypo. Hot sweats remained as did fast pulse. Increase in meds is now underway. Last bloodtest looked more or less normal but I'm not happy about weight gain which I am sure is hypo related.

Anyway - that should have been me 'fixed' for awhile - but last week I started getting really sharp pains in my lower back. Hubb assumed I'd pulled a muscle but I hadn't been doing anything. Anyway - the pains shifyed to the left, over a couple of days settled over the top of my left hip and then headed down into the groin. The pain woke me up Yesterday morning so I phoned for an emergency appointment with my GP and actually got it! By the time i saw her the pain had shifted to the lower abdomen. She reckons 2 things are going on. She is testing for a urine infection and has put me on 3 days worth of a strong antibiotic and gave me some painkillers. She also reckons my left hip is pretty stiff.

Can you get frozen hips? I hope Its not as sore as it was so hopefully its on the mend.  Today I am just aching all round my pelvic girdle. It was so sore that I was making involuntary squeaking noises when I moved and woke myself up yelling when hubby threw a friendly arm across my hips when we were sleeping. My physiotherapist says I tolerate pain well.

so - I am just having a little vent. I will knock back the pills and hope that things clear.

Thanks for listening - Scottie  :)

Oh, Scottie,

There are lots of words I could use about your year....but odd doesn't come to mind first!

I hope you are better soon.

By the way I seek out the automatic doors, and push the button to open others that can be opened automatically.  For me it is the arthritis in my hands.

Every little bit helps us.

Scottie, You have had an odd year as you just noted plus you have had a rough year. The deal with your shoulders is the pits. There are so many daily living tasks that we do that involve the shoulders. Getting that darn bra on is one of them!!!

I hope that this hip thing is resolved without it becoming another major player in your life. So many health issues that we have to deal with that it does wear us out at times. Hang in there gal cause you are tough and I know you will win this one too. Good luck. Irish

Gee quiz, Scottie,  you really have had quite the year.  And not in a good way.  I hope the recent issues get resolved soon, and that you are able to get better sleep.

Thanks for the replies. It humbles me because I don't think my year has actually been as rough as any of yours! I just needed a moan because people in here are so understanding.

Take care - Scottie  :)

We are all the same but different. Just get in line as we all get to take the stage at one time or another. Irish

I sure hope you feel better from this latest thing soon. Just think of it as your moaning is trying to moan all that pain out of you. My husband does it, and says it helps. When he does though, it doesn't help me. lol....
