Digging this thread out of the closet.

I recently joined Planet Fitness in determination of running a full marathon this year.  They have Beauty Angel or Red Light Therapy.  I started using it.

At first I thought cool....this is the benefits..

red light helps to activate ATP or adenosine triphospate in the muscle tissues, releasing more energy for the body to use

But then after a few weeks of using it 2 times weekly, I started feeling so moody and even thought I was going through a mini-flare of some sort.  My eyes were killing me.  I was very irritable and my sleep was way off again.

Then a co-worker looked more and found this on possible although rare side effects:

Eyestrain
Headache
Nausea
Irritability or agitation
Mania, euphoria, hyperactivity or agitation associated with bipolar disorder

convention stated ?It was mentioned over and over that there are zero adverse side effects to low level light therapy, be it low level laser or LED light therapy.

It was said that light only effects cells ?under stress? and has no effect on healthy cells.

So really.......I think I will stop using it.  We do not have healthy cells.

Anyone else try it?
Plaquenil (generic), vitamin D, Amitriptyline, Citalopram

Oh I should mention....I do have a reaction to most overhead lights and can only be in them for so long.

Within the link LisaMarie shared, click on the link highlighted in red within the site above:

QuotePlease read this additional list of precautions and contra-indications provided by Thor Laser (a leader in medical red and infrared light therapy or LLLT). It includes notes for cautions for:

    pregnancy
    the thyroid
    cancer
    hemorrhage
    immune suppressant drugs
certain nerves associated with heart disease
I would be disinclined to try it myself. A red flag for me is "it's completely safe" in the same narrative oh there are SOME precautions. Well gee willikers, if there are SOME PRECAUTIONS, then it isn't in my view completely safe for all individuals. ;)

Nasa's red light therapy research started out for plant growth. Then they found out about how well it worked for diabetic wound healing. I think it was 907nm for wave length.

Duh on me...I just remembered that a number of years (maybe even decades) ago I think it was an ENT doc that did something with a red light - I don't recall what problem he was treating, but it did work. Yes, he had it directed to the area he treated but I don't recall how long other than it was a while under that light. That was eons ago though, long before my health went into the valley so to speak. Trying to think....what was he treating? It may have been horrid nerve pain as he also deadened a nerve on right side somewhere around that sinus.

Whatever it was, the problem never recurred thankfully. I have no idea of the wavelength.
