Good news about my son

I just wanted to share some really good news with you about my son. Some of the old-timers will remember that he was injured in Iraq in 2003. He had developed seizures as a result of traumatic brain injury, and this past summer we almost lost him when his seizures got out of control.

Fortunately he was with his girlfriend and not alone, and she got him the medical attention he needed and stayed with him in the hospital until my husband could get there. He is recovering now, but it has been, and remains, a long haul back. Needless to say, school, his internship, and work all went on the back burner until he could gradually start back up again.

He just told us that he completed the last of the requirements for his MSW (social work) degree - a portfolio on his internship - and it has been accepted so his degree is complete! I'm so proud of him for his superhuman effort and positive attitude in the face of serious disability. He has been a role model for me of gracious acceptance of his condition while living the best life he can.

Take care,

Genko
