"Ding-Dong".. just a funny, easy short thing I say to to myself when thing go a bit awry.

Went to drop off collected specimen for Cortisol test and have blood drawn.
Well, was feeling off yesterday, cold to the core and tired and went back under the covers.. so did not get there until the afternoon.

Uh, oh.. Doctor wants blood drawn in the am.. "Ding-Dong"

Lab is not very local.

Hmm?? Find a benefit.

Think I will stop at the Ethnic market and see is they have some great fruits and maybe fish.

Leave lab, turn right onto highway .. see sign, "Ding-Dong" went north towards home, auto-pilot, when I should have gone south toward the center of the city.  Turn around and stay on Business side of highway.

Into center of city, cannot find the street I need.
Turn around.
Nope, not finding it.
See a bridge going over the river, tells me I have over-shot where it is ... going home.

Home.. Cold.. put on flannels pants and under the down comforter, some light reading, laying on my side with the cat purring on top of my hip.. Ahhh.

Ahhh, QD, now I will hear 'ding dong' when I find myself on the expressway going the wrong way and the next turn around exit is 5 miles away and I'm already late to whatever....

And when I drop the pile of mail I'm taking into the house three times in a row, with things sliding right and left.

I have lots of trouble walking and bending down, so these multiple drops and retrievals are definitely worth a 'ding dong'.

But of course a 'ding-dong' day is a string of these events.....  And with my health I've had ding-dong years...tho it is only in retrospect that I realize that it's been one 'ding-dong' thing after another for more than a year.

Today my hostess is taking my husband and her daughter into San Francisco by ferry to tour.  It is Fleet Week in the area, so all military can ride the ferry free, which ADDS to the confusion and crowds.  It is an hour's drive TO the ferry, The ferry is an hour EACH  way.  So that is four hours of travel time today, plus TOURING San Francisco.   DING DONG!  I said 'no thanks'

Here I am, blessedly alone, with my second cup of coffee planned, in my jammies, with my computer, and already thinking about an after breakfast rest!

I wish I had the energy to enjoy that BIG DAY.  But we had dinner at a Japanese Steak place, with four adults and four children last night....and lots of activities tomorrow.  So I need a day to rest after the long day of flying from NC to CA on Thursday.  And I toured SF, Napa, everything 30 years ago, and I can look at SF on my computer if I really want to see it again.

I am learned the hard way to avoid the 'ding-dong' minute when I realize I'm in over my head with activities.

I'm feeling quite reasonably good (you know what that means, I hope).  It's so quiet I can even hear the roar of my tinnitus, keeping me company!

DH and I went back to lab in the am.. he needed labs as well.

I get called.
Oh you will need to come back. Blood needs to be drawn before 10am.. it was 10:15.... DING-DONG!!

So since DH was driving we got to the ethnic market and bought some fresh fish, fruit was disappointing and priced high.. thought gas prices went down?  Happy he had some hesitation finding the street as well.. yeah, it wasn't just me.

So went back for third time and got the blood drawn.. third time is the charm.  :)

Drove down to a thrift store .. scored an oval twig basket with handles - to put two plants I need to bring in for the winter in the sunny livingroom window.. just going to line with a plastic bag? A cashmere sweater and a pair of silverplated tall stick candle holders made in Italy. And a greyish- plum boho beaded skinny top for $2, nicely done front and back for dear daughter..lol.

Anyone else have to drink that much water in the AM and still have blood sludge out?

Well my dr starved me for 1-1/2 days to get some blood drawn and a scan done. Funny thing was I could have allll the water I wanted BUT an overabundance of retained water is why I am having all the tests done in the first place. Ironic Huh?  ???

When I first saw Ding Dong - it made me think of all the durn "survey" phone calls I've been getting lately. Most computer generated. I am winded anyway and bust my butt to answer the phone only to have THEM!  Urrrrr >:(

BTW: You are lucky they use the plastic tubes now. I had to come back once cause a whole tray got dropped of glass tubes!  I can imagine the mess!
