Is Fall coming early where you live??

I'm in southern MN and we have had a very cool summer. I think we had 2 days of 90 degree weather and the rest has been up and down in 70's and 80's. It has been feeling like Fall in the evening for about close to a month and cooling off. It is starting to sound and smell like Fall. The farmers are concerned as we have had such a short growing season and a lot of the corn is not anywhere near ready and a lot of the soy beans won't make it unless we have a late Fall.

I heard that frost was forecast for the end of the week and that is not unusually early for MN, but sure don't need it this early this year. Just curious how things are in your neck of the woods. Past few days have been gorgeous. Bad weather this summer for swimming and the weekends always seemed to bring rain. We have not felt like we had a summer this year.

Also, if any of you live in the area you might like to visit tpt.com as this is a public tv site. This site had the best cable shows on a couple of weeks ago about the weather over the past 150 years in MN. They talked about fire, floods, tornados and blizzards and there are some things on the site that you can watch videos on. If the link doesn't work it is probably tpt.org. There are a couple of fellows that are meteorologists who talk about these events. The one fellow, Paul Douglas, has been around for a long time and is very smart. He invented Doppler radar so I have heard and he also invented those thermometer/barometers/clocks, etc that you can buy to sit on a piece of furniture. They are very classy looking and you can buy cheaper ones and then the more expensive ones. I guess he has also got other things he has invented. Darn, he's not related to me!!!! Irish

I live on the West Coast of Canada, and we've had a beautiful summer.  I checked the 14 day forecast on The Weather Network - and it looks like no major changes are predicted during the next few weeks.

The Canadian Geese, however, began flying south at least three weeks ago - and I trust them more than I trust The Weather Network ;)  Our Fall here can last well into October - so I hope this year is 'normal' in that regard - because then we enter rainy season :(

I have family who live in Northern BC and Alberta - they had snowfall yesterday - with more in the forecast.  And THAT is why I live where I do and not closer to my family in the North!

I love your descriptions of the fall Irish! We're a bit topsy turvy in nrth west UK.  The last 2 weeks in August were cold and wet.  Now we have lovely end of summer weather.  Can't get out to see the trees and countryside till I get the wires out after my foot surgery, so it's lovely reading your descriptions.  :)

We are in the 90's today and tomorrow in Northeast Arkansas.  The rest of the week is supposed to be in the 70's!  Woohoo!!

Football weather is getting here.

We woke up to snow yesterday with temperatures around the freezing point.  The dogs were mad, would not go outside without a gentle push.  :)

Not unheard of, but unusual for sure.  Giving serious thought to moving to the west coast of BC after retirement!

Where I live we're still having 90 degree days......   North Carolina, below the snow line (most of the time).

Fall?  A faint memory, so far!  But one I cling to when it is hot and humid.

Here is Central Illinois, we've had yo-yo weather . . . . hot one day, cool the next.  In fact, last week we had 92 degrees one day, and less than 24 hrs. later it was a high of 72!

It seems to have been more rainy this year than most (as storms rolled through at 5:15 a.m. this morning and woke me up  :( ).  More rain to come later today and pretty much 100% chance of rain for tomorrow.

Looking at all the news reports of areas that are having flash floods and cars submerged in water up to their windows or roofs.  Wow!

We have soybeans in our field and they are a long way yet from being ready.  I have seen some fields turning yellow - but, they aren't anywhere near ready either.  The corn is still green too.

I DO love the colors of fall - the beautiful oranges, reds and yellows of the trees.  I also love the "smells and sounds" of fall.  Walking on crunching leaves, watching the squirrels hurrying around gathering up nuts for winter, bonfires, hayrides, pumpkins . . . . . .

I'm afraid to see what lies ahead for our upcoming winter.  I "think" I've heard here in the Midwest it's going to be a colder winter.  I "guess" I can take the cold temperatures over lots of snow - but, I much prefer the beautiful weather we had this past Sunday - low 70's, no wind, no humidity - it was perfect!  The winter of 2013/2014 our schools had seven (7) snow days . . . the most EVER!  We had to cancel church four weeks in a row due to the weather.

Bucky, I have heard that the Farmers Almanac has predicted a very wickedly cold winter out east and a little warmer than last year in the midwest. The far west is supposed to be warm and time will tell how much moisture any of the country will get. It is either flood or drouth lately.

The geese migrated 3 weeks early from Canada. Uhmmmm, I bet that explains why the dragonflies were about 3-4 weeks early in their migration. Mother Nature is the one to watch---not the weather man. But don't tell them that!!! Irish

Rainy here today, and nice and cool. Leaves beginning to turn. Some on the ground.

We are having a stunning fall after a hot, dry summer. But it is COLD in the morning, and the horses are developing their winter coats at a rapid pace. The blackberries are all but done, and we had our first fire a couple of nights ago (we heat with wood).

I love this time of year!

Irish - according to the news reports today, some areas are skipping Fall and going right from summer into Winter!!   :o

South Dakota has 1.6 - 7" inches of snow, and Wyoming has up to 18" of snow!!

Here in Central IL, it's 54 degrees right now, dipping down to 38 degrees tonight.  Last Friday, we were in the low 90's!!  ???

Better keep your capri's and sandals next to your long pants, covered shoes, coat, gloves & boots!  Crazy weather!!

I was in town for a couple of hours early evening and by the time I got home the wind had died down and the cold was settling in. Soooo, I had all my plants cozied up together and then decided to cover them with newspaper. It is predicted to frost tonight. I am not ready for this. Irish

Here in PA fall is coming early. We took a long drive Labor Day weekend and saw leaves changing in the mountains.

Now they are changing here too (we're snuggled between mountains) as well. It will be cool all this coming week, in the 60s and 40s at night, so changing colors will be coming.

I too love fall though not winter. Looking forward to pumpkins and cider apple pie and walks on cool evenings (I feel so much better in cool, but not cold, weather as I know most of us do).

Terrible winter is predicted, I just need to remember that under all that snow are beautiful bulbs being kept warm and just waiting to burst to life in the spring.

Well I am definitely not ready for Fall. We didn't have much of a summer here in Eastern Iowa with maybe two times hitting a 90 degree temp.  Will be it the low 60s all this week and might hit 72 on Friday. Wow!

They are talking about getting the Fall plantings in the ground quick and covering the plants already. I am really hoping it will not be a bad snowy winter.  I have a 2-wheel drive jeep now that sits a little higher. They can be telling everyone to stay off the streets, close the schools BUT my work will expect us to be there. The bus wouldn't work for me and my emergency ride is retiring so I'm out of luck. You can almost never get the driveway done prior to going to work and if we are a little late we get in "dutch". Hitching my kitties up to a sled is out, if I could Ha Ha so I am hoping for a not much snow winter.

I've already turned the furnace on. Too Early to do that. ::)
