Hello Everyone,

Anyone have trigger point injections?  I have been getting them in my shoulder for awhile now.  I am not experiencing much improvement.  Just wondered what everyone else has experienced.

I got them a few years ago in my back and scapula region after a mountain biking accident.  I thought they were helpful.  The cocktail was with lidocaine, kenalog(steroid) and sarapin.  I'm assuming you are getting them into the muscle?  This was before sjogrens

I am getting them in  my scapula area and clavicle area.  He is only using lidocaine.  I felt like it helped the first time he did them and then did not see significant relief the second and third times.  My doctor would like to do another round of injections.

Hello-
I got trigger point injections in my neck and shoulder area. I was pleased with how well my neck/shoulder area improved. The trigger points only helped my muscles.
I received steroids injections in knee joints which made the knee better as far as mobility and pain was lessened.
In my case the injections helped but only the spots they were given in.

I've had trigger point injections many times well over ten years and usually they are very helpful. Sometimes if it's a cocktail to include steroid, it can take a few days before it fully kicks in.

Last round was four trigger points - three along neck and shoulder and one in trapezius. That time was Bupivicaine. I haven't had radiculopathy flaring since and it's been maybe 4 months since then.

They can be helpful. I've had them help in my shoulder, but not help in another area.

You can also do trigger point massage, and depending on the location of the problem, may even be able to manipulate the trigger points yourself and get some relief that way.  There are some great books and websites available with more info.

Hi. I'm just wondering what symptom of Sjogren's does the trigger point injection help with? Arthritis? Or muscle weakness/pain? Thanks.

In my circumstances, more related to cervical radiculopathy secondary to spine trauma. However, with the onset of relentless DRY everywhere 2012 thanks to SJS, I went through nearly two years of needing trigger point injections and/or occipital nerve blocks about every 2-4 months for pain - whereas prior to that once every 2-3 YEARS was adequate to break pain cycle.

I have been getting trigger point injections for years.  I have had them mostly in my neck and shoulders but also have got them in my lower back.  Wherever the pain is I have had the injections.  Sometimes I have so much pain all over and they can't inject every place so I get a "booster" shot in my arms and it settles down the inflammation all over.  My shots are Kenalog and DepoMedrol.  They do help!  The "booster" shots even give me energy for a few days!
