When I first started plaquenil my hair color lightened. My hair was dry and got frizzy. I had to dry it with a round brush to smooth and shape it. I was so tired and weak that drying my hair was torture. Air dry is ok in warmer climates but in cold areas I couldn't let my hair dry on its own as it would take all day.
I tried growing it long (thinking the weight of the hair would keep it smoother.
Short hair is easier to care for.
This time when I was fed up with trying to keep a modern Bob haircut I asked my hairdresser to cut it off into something easy for me. So she cut it shaggy like Lisa Rinna or Josue Fosters.
My unexpected surprise was curly hair!
I have never had curly hair except for the stinky home perms when I was a kid.
While I am enjoying the freedom and ease of curly hair I wonder if the curl is a part of my RX. ???

Hair? Oh, my...

As a kid/teen I had a strong, very thick blond hair. Straight, only slightly bendy.

At 30 years old I gave birth to my first kid. little by little my hair changed, I lost a lot of it and the rest of it became more wavy. At 33 I got my second kid. The hair that grew out after that was curly. Curly as in having stuck my fingers in a power outlet!  :o

I remember as a kid I used to wish I was a brunette with curly hair. Well, I got half of it. The rest I could of course get from a bottle, but have opted not to.

My hair has never been greasy, but now it's drier than the Sahara. And periodically falling so heavily that it makes the sewer get clogged. I used to have some very thick black and red hairs (not to mention striped ones, seriously!) but those colours have faded and became grey years ago - even if I'm only 47  :(

Well everyone, wish me luck. Tomorrow is the day. I am going to take the plunge and get my shoulder length, thick, dry, frizzy, brittle hair that is breaking off cut into a shorter style with layers
to lighten up the weight and make it easier to maintain and try to get it healthier looking.

So sick of being dry all over, looking years beyond my actual age and feeling like crud. Maybe a
" new do" will help!

hi Nellie

"pilpcarpine" are you talking about the pilocarpine that we take for dryness?

Thanks ~ twilite
Yep,
Indeed. I got the shampoo of Amazon with Jaborandi in the Shampoo. They have oils too, but in Indian site. I can e-mail in private message. Apologies for the spell mistake

The other day I got home just in time to see Dr. Oz on tv. He had some male stylist on & they were talking about dry hair. He said that the best shampoo for very dry hair is sulfate-free.

At the conference this past weekend, I went over to the sample table to get some of my favorite green gum. There were 2 women talking at the table. The one woman was saying that she uses the ReviTEAlize shampoo and how great it was. I saw that the same company that makes the green gum had both shampoo & conditioner on the table with some other dry mouth products.

I heard her say that she used to use Rogaine shampoo all the time because she had terribly thinning hair, but that she had started using the ReviTEAlize shampoo that was on the table and her hair had gotten much thicker.

I have lupus and Sjogren's and hair loss was one of my first symptoms too. I lost a LOT of hair in a short amount of time and since my hair was thin and fine to begin with, my scalp is now visible all over, so I wear wigs and have been for 2 years. I go through cycles where some hair grows back but it's never nearly enough to cover my scalp, and when I flare, it just falls out again anyway.
