I'm not comfortable with this trend. On it's face, it "sounds" good, but in the bigger picture? It's more depersonalization. And on that trend, it's easy to see that robotics will be replacing people in the future.

Then what happens when people (such as doctors) become obsolete?

There are several major lawsuits from damage caused by robot surgery.

Ok, I don't see that story as "robots".  I just see a Doctor doing a consultation/evaluation using something akin to "Skype"?  Did I miss something?  I actually don't have an issue with this for certain situations as long as there is some type of medical person around.  I don't know about you guys, but around here, everyone is going to PAs and LPNs instead of seeing the Doctor.  I hate it.  If I make an appointment and am going to pay a specialist or Doctor co-pay...I want the Doctor.  Now I get if you have a cold or something small and need to get in quickly.

I actually have had a consult via the internet one time, which is why I'm not opposed to the Skype type thing in certain situations.  When I tore my Achilles tendon the second time and my Podiatrist thought the tissues looked damaged and I needed a major specialist, the closest was 2 hours away from me.  He called him up and got him on camera to look at my foot/Achilles and MRI results with him to see what he thought before making me drive down there.  The soft tissue specialist took one look and said, "Sorry sweetie, you need to come see me."  Went that afternoon and was in surgery the next day.  It was fine with me that they consulted that way to try and save me a trip.

Now robots.  My Dad had colon cancer the beginning of this year.  It was pretty bad and the Doctor did part of the surgery and the robot did part of the surgery.  I can see both sides of that as well.  The part the robot did was very delicate and more precise, so the Doctor wanted the robot to do it while he operated it.  If we were talking just a robot doing a procedure while the Doctor monitored from a video screen, probably would cause me more concern.

Most likely I did. My dyslexia gets me all the time if I do not read the story 5 times. Some times even then it still gets me.
Often what I read may not have anything to do with what was written.
