Hello everyone, Tomorrow, I am scheduled for a lip biopsy, & a complete oral exam, which includes a salivary flow test. Should I not take evoxac today or tomorrow? Does it make any difference in the outcome of the test? Silly me, I should have asked the doctor and now it is the weekend.

My rheumo referred me to this dentist, because he is a specialist in autoimmune, which include sjogrens. I am still being considered for a clinical trial at Cedars Sinai, headed by Dr. Daniel Wallace.

Should know within the next month if I'm going to leap into the clinical trial world (eeeeeeek)

I am not sure but I would skip tomorrow prior to just to the exam and biopsy. it could affect a salivary flow test but I do not think it would affect a lip biopsy. Good luck keep us posted. I had the lip biopsy and was ok with procedure et which showed lymphocytic infiltration.

Keep us posted on results

Thanks Dee. I stopped evoxac 27 hrs before the salivary flow test. Surprise! My saliva is low - .05 ml.

The lip biopsy procedure wasn't too bad - done by an oral surgeon - autoimmune disorders (including sjogrens) is one of his specialties. He did a full mouth exam, told me to keep up the good oral hygiene (biogene toothpaste, mouthwash, gum, hard sugarless candy ,water pic, flouride gel) Next visit will be after taking evoxac one hour prior. This dr is a researcher at Cedar Sinai & told me there are some promising treatments on the horizon for stimulating saliva - hope he can share with all of us, soon. I will share what I learn as it come in.

Results of lip biopsy on Aug. 23, during rheumo visit to determine primary or secondary.

Meanwhile, trying to keep any remnants of my sanity - Happy Tuesday!

I'm so glad it went well. What is sanity? Where did I leave my mind 24 years ago? I miss it!

"Sanity and happiness are an impossible combination." (Mark Twain). Maybe it is true; anyway, my lip hurts whenever I open my mouth too wide, so I'll need to shut up for awhile :)
