I also have chronic bronchitis & COPD.  I know about mucus!  ;). Mucinex is a stand by, especially in winter.   I have a worse time in winter than in summer.  I also use either AsthmaClear or ClearLungs Extra strength, depending on if I have congestion (clear lungs) or tightness (asthma clear).  They clear my nasal passages as well  as my chest.  I usd them all the time for pneumonia bouts.

Ditto on the increased water intake.

I will alternate Sinex nose spray with saline spray so I don't dry out too much up there.

Avoid milk products / dairy products -- they make MORE mucus.

I have had this thick mucus since 2000 and it hasn't killed me yet, but I have thought I was a goner a couple of times. It sure ruins a persons sleep that is for sure.

Besides the water and carbonated water and polo and decaf coffee and tea that I drink, I have a little trick that is my end of the road thing for thick mucus in my post nasal area that doesn't want to move out. I have found that eating chocolate helps to "entrap" the chocolate in the mucus and helps to move it out a little easier. I enjoy the candy whether it helps or not. I don't eat a lot of it but keep M&M's in the cupboard and grab a few when I get clogged up.

I seem to find the more fun things in life to try to help me out. Irish lol
